I understand the importance of football.
It is great exercise for the young men, it builds self confidence and many other good qualities. Each year when the team photo comes out in the paper I am amazed at the ratio between coaches and players.
Does it really take one coach for every two and a half players? Full Story
Critics of county want services but don’t want to pay the bills

No one particularly likes taxes and all of us want our government —at all levels—to be effi- cient. However, we all expect our government to deliver certain services (police and fire protection, good roads, clean water, etc.) and to deliver those services well, and on demand. Full Story
‘Citizenry not included in county budget plans’
Dear editor,
In order to set the tax rate to insure that the “correct” amount of taxes will be collected—that is, not too much, which leads to reckess spending, or too little, which which means real hard decisions as to who will be laid off or fired—a well-thought-out budget must be presented. Full Story
