Reunions

Abel
 BUCKHOLTS—Funeral services for Barbara Ann Abel, 60, of Austin and formerly of Cameron were held Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts with Rev. Kleypas officiating. Burial followed in Hope Lutheran Memorial Park.
 Miss Abel died Friday, June 6, in Austin.
 She was born March 19, 1948, in Cameron to Gus John and Hulda  Mackenroth Abel, who preceded her in death.
 She was also preceded in death by a sister, Delores Michalka.
 Survivors are a brother, Lester Abel, and a sister, Lina Holubec, both of Rogers.

Beyer
 CAMERON—Funeral services for Donald Louis Beyer Sr., 70, of Beaumont were held Thursday, June 5, 2008, in the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Billy Crow officiating. Burial followed in North Elm Cemetery.
 Mr. Beyer died Monday, June 2, in a Beaumont nursing facility following an illness.
 He was born Feb. 19, 1938, in Houston to Paul and Frances Augustus Beyer.
 Mr. Beyer was a Lamar University graduate and a retired senior project engineer for Exxon-Mobil.
 Survivors are his wife, Patsy Beyer of Beaumont; a son, Donald L. Beyer Jr. and wife Shirley of Laredo; a daughter, Kelli Beyer and friend Rebecca Johnson of Victoria; a sister, Shirley Curry of Houston; and three grandchildren, Christian, Justin and Tyler Beyer, all of Laredo.

Citizen
 Funeral services for Luedleia Nichole Citizen, 20, were held Monday, June 9, 2008, at Praise Christian Center World Outreach with Pastor Randolph officiating.

Freeman
 Graveside services for Kenneth Freeman, 57, of Davilla were held Friday, June 6, at Davilla Cemetery with Rev. David Cox of First Baptist Church in Davilla officiating.
 Mr. Freeman died Sunday, June 1, at his home in Davilla.
 A Davilla resident for the past 35 years, he was born Nov. 12, 1950, in Cameron to Kenneth Lynn and Stella May (Walker) Freeman.
 He married Rhonda R. Cuba on May 7, 1977, in San Gabriel.
Mr. Freeman was a journeyman electrician and a member of Electrical Union No. 520 in Austin.
 He was an avid horseman and made leather bridles and other leather items for horses. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed camping on the Llano River and all outdoor sports, one of which was digging for arrowheads.
 Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by his father.
 Survivors are his wife, Rhonda Freeman of Davilla; five daughters, Sarah Asbury and husband Christopher, Michelle Freeman, Hannah Freeman and Elizabeth Freeman, all of Davilla, and Rachel Freeman of Belton; his mother, Stella Moore of Houston; a brother, Edward Freeman and wife Phyllis of Rockdale; five grandchildren, Tristen Asbury, Julia Asbury, Abigail Asbury, Danielle Guerra and Emily Guerra; and a niece, April Freeman Van Hoose and husband Joshua of Rockdale.

Laywell
 CAMERON—Funeral services for Cecil Denson Laywell, 83, of Cameron were held Sunday, June 8, 2008, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Coleman and Rev. Gary Maroney officiating. Burial followed in Walkers Creek Cemetery near Cameron.
 Mr. Laywell died Friday, June 6, in a Temple hospital.
 He was born Dec. 30, 1924, in the Splawn community of Milam County to Henry J. and Bertha (Angell) Laywell.
 Mr. Laywell was a Cameron Yoe High School graduate and was inducted into the Army following graduation. He served in Normandy and Germany.
 Upon returning, he attended the DPS Academy and graduated with the 12th class in 1948.
 Mr. Laywell was stationed as a patrolman in Fort Worth and the Katy area. He also spent several years as an investigator for the Village Police Department in Spring Branch.
 He retired as a drillings superintendent from Layne Western Co. in Houston after 26 years.
 Mr. Laywell served one term as Milam County Precinct 2 commissioner.
 He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and a Shriner.
 Mr. Laywell was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cameron.
 He married Elaine Werner on Oct. 17, 1953, and they made their home in Katy until 1980 when they moved to the Walkers Creek community of Milam County.
 Mr. Laywell was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Laywell and Ralph Laywell.
 Survivors include a wife, Elaine Laywell of Cameron; a son, Hank Laywell and wife Kim of Hillsboro; two brothers, Ed Laywell of Cameron and Cliff Laywell of Bryan; and a granddaughter, Landry of Hillsboro.

McGee
 LONGVIEW—A memorial graveside service for Theda R. McGee, 87, of Longview was held Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at New Salem Cemetery in Reklaw.
 Ms. McGee died Wednesday, June 4, in a Longview nursing home.
 She was born March 25, 1921, in Reklaw in Rusk County to J.R. “Dick” and Annie McKnight.
 She attended school in Reklaw and her senior year in Jacksonville.
 In 1943, Ms. McGee received her degree from Stephen F. Austin University.
 She moved to Austin in 1944 and worked in the Department of Education and legislature for one term.
 During World War II, Ms. McGee was selected for training in the Women’s Air Force Services Pilots (WASP) program and was stationed in Sweetwater.
 She also taught in Austin Public Schools for eight years.
 In 1955, she married Robert L. McGee. They were married for 55 years before he died in 2007.
 The McGees moved to Rockdale where he worked for TXU. He retired in 1977, they sold their home, bought a travel trailer and traveled the States, Canada and Alaska for four years.
 In 1983, they moved to Reklaw and lived there for 21 years before moving to Longview in 2004.
 Ms. McGee was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a brother, Bridwell McKnight.
 Survivors are two sons, B.B. McGee and wife Pam of Nederland, Richard McGee and wife Jeanne of Longview; and five grandchildren, Erin Morgan and Robert McGee, both of Houston, Bradley McGee and Chelsey McGee, both of Longview, and Lauren McGee of Nederland; also, three great-grandchildren.

Schneider
 THORNDALE—Services for Lorine H. Schneider, 90, of Thorndale will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2008, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale with Rev. Wilburn Michalk officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Church Cemetery in Thorndale.
 Mrs. Schneider died Monday, June 9, at Johns Community Hospital in Taylor.
 She was born Aug. 15, 1917, in Thorndale to John Ernest Gerhard and Anna (Lehmann) Biar Sr.
 On. Oct. 1, 1939, she married Martin Schneider, who preceded her in death in January 2000.
 Mrs. Schneider was a homemaker and also a big cookie baker.
 She was a member of L.W.M.L., Bereavement Committee, Choir and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale, where she taught Sunday School and was a Vacation Bible School helper.
 Mrs. Schneider was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, an infant sister, five sisters, a grandson and an infant granddaughter.
 Survivors are two daughters, Angie Becker and husband Ronnie, Gracie Cargill and husband Jimmy, all of Thorndale; and a son, Kelton Schneider and wife Alice of Thorndale; also, six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
 Pallbearers will be Billy Biar, Jerry Biar, Myron Schneider, Gayle Berry, Mark Rodenbeck, Kenneth Kokel and Leon Kokel.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Thorndale (Our Forever Family Fund), St. Paul General Fund or charity of your choice.

Tumlinson
 CAMERON—Funeral services for Howard Peter (Pete) Tumlinson, 87, of Cameron were held Monday, June 9, 2008, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Jim Lafferty officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.
 Mr. Tumlinson died Thursday, June 5, in a local hospital.
 He was born June 7, 1920, in Glasgow, MT, to O.G. and Maude Weaver Tumlinson.
Known as Pete to family and friends, he was in the Class of ’42 at Texas A&M University.
 Mr. Tumlinson was a World War II veteran, serving as a pilot for the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Forces (SHAEF).
 His career as a commercial artist carried him to places all over the country, including New York City, Chicago, Albuquerque, Fort Worth and Austin.
 Mr. Tumlinson also worked for the Texas Department of Health as an artist/photojournalist. He is perhaps best known for his creation of Ol’ Sarge, which became recognized as a symbol of Texas A&M.
Mr. Tumlinson was a member of First Baptist Church in Cameron.
 A brother, Robert, preceded him in death.
 Survivors include two brothers, Jack Tumlinson and wife Tense of Cameron, Dick Tumlinson and wife Judy of Wichita, KS; and a sister-in-law, Jean Tumlinson of Cameron; also, numerous nieces and nephews.
