Reunions

Pruett
Services for Terry Pruett, 79, of Rockdale will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale with Rev. Jan Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.
Visitation was to be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home.
Mr. Pruett died Monday, July 7, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
A lifelong Rockdale and Milam County resident, he was born April 12, 1929, in Milam County to Coy Marshall Pruett and Gertrude (Burgess) Pruett.
He married Josephine Marie Krenek on June 22, 1958, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in College Station.
Mr. Pruett worked at Alcoa’s Rockdale Operations in maintenance as a general mechanic, retiring in May 1992 after 39 years.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the U.S. Army Military Police.
Mr. Pruett was a 1947 graduate of Milano High School and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Rufus Clark.
Survivors are his wife, Jo Pruett of Rockdale; three sons, John Pruett and wife Lynn, Steve Pruett, and Mike Pruett and wife Pam, all of Rockdale; a sister, June Clark of Rockdale; and five grandchildren, Ashley Pruett, Kristi Pruett, Amy Pruett, Tyler Pruett and Sarah Pruett, all of Rockdale.
Pallbearers will be Bob Von Gonten, Stanley Burgess, Alan Krenek, Aaron Krenek, Roger Clark and Jimmy Burgess.

Alford
Funeral services for Weldon Alford, 79, of Rockdale were held Monday, July 7, 2008, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Chelf of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.
Mr. Alford died Thursday, July 3, at his home in Rockdale.
A lifelong Rockdale resident, he was born on July 4, 1928, in Rockdale to Thomas Ewing and Carolina (Rose) Alford.
He married Jean McQuinn on June 12, 1948, in Rockdale.
Mr. Alford retired in 1987 from IGC/Texas Utilities where he was safety and security supervisor.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockdale.
Mr. Alford was a softball and baseball umpire for 60 years, calling games at many levels including the Southwest Conference and the NCAA. He also called basketball games.
Mr. Alford was a lifetime member of the ASA and the TASO and was a member of the Rockdale Sports Hall of Fame.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Johnnie, Clarence, Frank, Jamie, and his twin, Bill Alford; and three sisters, Luvenia Alford, Mary Tuma and Edith Brown.
Survivors are his wife Jean Alford of Rockdale; a son, Kenny Alford and wife Melissa of Portland; three daughters, Debbie Kaderka and husband Johnnie of Houston, Donna Smith and husband Owen of Hilltop Lakes, Patti Morgan and husband Randy of Milano; a sister, June Fenn of Livingston; seven grandchildren, Amber Robinson and husband Eric, Courtney McGee and husband Michael, Kelsey Morgan, Whitney Smith, Brandy Morgan, Kayla Alford and Jered Alford; and three great-grandchildren, Jace Robinson, Kyndal Robinson and Alli McGee; also, a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Johnnie Kaderka, Owen Smith, Randy Morgan, Eric Robinson, Michael McGee and Jared Alford.

Hodge
Services for Michael Britt Hodge, 49, of San Gabriel were held Sunday, July 6, 2008, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Jimmy Hinostrosa of San Gabriel Evangelical Christian Church officiating. Cremation followed.
Mr. Hodge died Monday, June 30, in Rockport.
A longtime San Gabriel resident, he was born June 7, 1959, in Austin.
He married Shannon Renee Parker in November 1990 in Giddings.
Mr. Hodge was a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry.
He loved writing poetry, bull riding and fishing.
Mr. Hodge was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Allen and Evelyn Conn, and his paternal grandfather, B.V. Hodge.
Survivors are his wife, Shannon Hodge of San Gabriel; two sons, Michael Britt Hodge Jr. of Las Vegas and Dalton Allen Hodge of Rockdale; a daughter, Brittni Ann Hodge of College Station; his mother, Annabelle Hodge Heine and husband Bobby of San Gabriel; his father, Leslie Hodge of Thorndale; a brother, Shannon Clay Hodge of Thorndale; and his paternal grandmother, Evelyn Hodge of Thorndale; also, three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Shannon Clay Hodge, Billy Allen, Dennis Thomas, Trent Thomas, Brandon Allen, Ben Gonzales and Nathan Griffith.
Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Labit
Services for Jessie Faye Harvey Partain Labit, 89, of Lexington were held Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Tanglewood Baptist Church in Tanglewood with Rev. Jeff Covington of Oakwood Baptist Church in New Braunfels officiating. Burial was at Clairette Cemetery in Clairette.
Mrs. Labit died Monday, July 7, at Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale.
A Lexington resident for the past seven years, she previously lived in Fort Worth, Georgetown and Tanglewood.
She was born Sept. 7, 1918, in Clairette to Austin Ezekiel Harvey and Minnie (Mayfield) Harvey.
She married Alton Partain in 1937 and then Jessie Labit in 1967.
Mrs. Labit worked for Farmers Insurance Group in Austin, retiring in 1978 after 25 years.
She was a member of Tanglewood Baptist Church and served as church pianist until she was almost 80.
Mrs. Labit was preceded in death by her first husband, Alton Partain; her second husband, Jessie Labit; a son, Paul Partain; and her parents.
Survivors are a son, Jimmy N. Labit and wife Tamara of Fair­child Air Force Base; two daughters, Joyce Forest and husband Bill of Austin, Ednoa Rylander of Lexington; two grandchildren, Laura Eaton and husband Ron of Slaton, Jennifer Covington and husband Jeff of New Braunfels; and six great-grandchildren, Anthony Camacho of Austin, Casey and Aaron Rylander of Lexington, Dustin and Dillon Labit of Fairchild AFB and Autumn Covington of New Braunfels.

Locklin
Funeral services for Frances Hardin Locklin, 88, of Port Alto were held Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Bayside Community Church in Olivia. Burial was at Locklin Cemetery in San Gabriel.
Mrs. Locklin died Wednesday, July 2.
She was born Dec. 12, 1919, in Austin to Walter D. Hardin and Florence Brown Lucas and was an identical twin.
Mrs. Locklin graduated from Thorndale High School in 1937.
She married C.F. ‘Tige’ Locklin on March 18, 1939, and they lived on several ranches in South Texas.
Mrs. Locklin attended Wharton County Junior College and became an LVN.
She worked at St. David’s Hospital in Austin for 20 years, retiring in 1983.
The Locklins moved to Port Alto in 1983 where she played the piano for Bayside Community Church and was active in the church.
Mrs. Locklin was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Tige Locklin; a son, Lendon Cody Locklin; her parents; a grandson, Terrel Johnson Jr.; and her twin sister, Marie Hardy.

Heine
THORNDALE—A memorial service for Carol Diane Tiemann Heine, 63, of Thorndale, was held Sunday, June 29, 2008, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale.
Mrs. Heine died Tuesday, June 24, at her home.
She was born Sept. 13, 1944, to Edmund Tiemann and Ruby (Moerbe) Tiemann at Stromberg Hospital in Taylor.
She was baptized on Oct. 8, 1944, and confirmed March 30, 1958, at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
She married Nathan Edwin Heine on Feb. 25, 1963, at San Gabriel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Heine always wanted to help people. In recent years, she spent much of her time working to improve the medical treatment afforded to inmates of the TDJC by being active in TIFA and meeting directly with the TDCJ medical board.
At the age of 50, she went to college for the first time and chose to be a medical lab technician.
Mrs. Heine had always wanted to be an organ donor. Even though that did not work quite as planned, her body is being donated to provide tissue for skin grafts for burn victims.
Mrs. Heine was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan, on June 4, 1975, and her father, Edmund.
Survivors are her mother, Ruby Krieg of Taylor; a daughter, Christine Heine of Austin; two sons, David Heine and wife Melanie of Thrall, and Greg Heine of Thorndale; a sister, Barbara Rutledge and husband Homer of Thorndale; and a brother, Edmond Larry Tiemann and wife Betty of Thorndale; also, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Thomas and Ashley Heine, Jason Heine, Adam Murray, Ashley Wiederckehr, Natalie Heine, Melissa and Jeffrey Ake, Caden Ake, Rodney Granzin, Stephen Granzin, Toby Granzin, Debi Posey, Sherry Elliot, Sheila Frase, Dana Vance and Danny Heine.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.

Becerra
CAMERON—Funeral services for Jose Valdez Becerra, 75, of Cameron were held Friday, July 4, 2008, at St. Monica’s Catholic Church with Rev. Chris Coleman officiating. Burial followed at Hernandez Cemetery.
Rosary was recited Thursday, July 3, at Green-Patterson Funeral Home.
Mr. Becerra died Wednesday, July 2, at his home.
He was born March 19, 1933, in Queretero, Mexico, to Silverio and Margarita (Valdez) Becerra.
Mr. Becerra was a Catholic.
Survivors are his wife, Cipriana Ruiz Becerra of Cameron; six sons, Ruben Becerra of Cameron, Jose Luis Becerra, Jesus Becerra, Antonio Becerra, Victor Becerra, Francisco Becerra and Sergio Becerra, all of Mexico; three daughters, Martha Juarez, Leticia Montoya and Hortencia Vasquez, all of Mexico; two brothers, Jesus Becerra and Fortino Becerra, both of Mexico; and four sisters, Carmen Becerra, Guadalupe Becerra, Audelia Becerra and Efigoria Becerra, all of Mexico; also, 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Polzer
CAMERON—Funeral services for Marie (Zelisko) Svetlik Polzer, 92, of Temple were held Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Cameron. Burial followed at St. Monica’s Cemetery.
Rosary was recited Monday, July 7, at Green-Patterson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Polzer died Tuesday, July 1, in a Temple hospital.
She was born Aug. 26, 1915, the eldest daughter of Rudolph Zelisko and Irene Bownds in Haskell.
Mrs. Polzer was a former businesswoman who later got her nursing degree. She worked at Scott & White and Darnell Hospitals.
She loved square dancing, kitchen combo band and genealogy.
Mrs. Polzer was a parishioner at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church in Temple.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Richmond Zelisko, and a sister, Virginia Irene Gandy.
Survivors are her husband, Herman A. Polzer of Temple; two daughters, Evelyn Caswell of Arizona, Bennie Runo and husband Albert of New Jersey; two granddaughters, Sherry Peralta and husband Dan of New Jersey, Debbie Montrose and husband Ken of Pennsylvania; and five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica and Jacob Peralta and Paige and Kyle Montrose.
