Skrhak
Services for Raymond Charles Skrhak, 55, of Rockdale were held Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at Forest Grove Christian Church with Rev. Doug Springer of Rockdale Full Gospel Church officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Rockdale.
Mr. Skrhak died Wednesday, July 30, at his home in Rockdale.
A lifelong Rockdale resident, he was born Nov. 12, 1952, in Cameron to Raymond W. and Betty Jean (Crump) Skrhak.
He married Brenda Jones on Dec. 26, 1969, in Rockdale.
Mr. Skrhak was a conductor with Burlington, Northern, Santa Fe Railroad for over 20 years, retiring in 2001.
He was a member of Rockdale Knights of Columbus and Rockdale Historical Society.
Mr. Skrhak enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gary Skrhak; and his grandparents.
Survivors are his wife, Brenda Skrhak of Rockdale; two sons, Michael Skrhak and wife Jodi, Mark Skrhak and wife Jessica, all of Rockdale; three grandchildren, Jared, Joshua and Zeb Skrhak; and three nephews, Chad, Brad and Blake Skrhak.
Pallbearer were Ron Crump, Roy Crump, Robert Crump, Justin Praesel, Doc Eanes and Bert Dockall.
Honorary pallbearers were James Powell, Greg Brinkley, Jim Stigler, Jeremy Stigler, Terry Arledge, Tim Arledge, Randy Robinson, Jeffery Clark and Durwood Martin.

McCoy
Services for Donald McCoy, 79, of Rockdale were held Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Doug Springer of Rockdale Full Gospel Church and Rev. Calvin Springer officiating. Burial followed in IOOF Cemetery.
Mr. McCoy died Saturday, Aug. 9, at Renaissance Villa in Rockdale.
A lifelong Milam County resident, he was born Nov. 24, 1928, in Tracy to Claude Hampton McCoy and Eunice Jewel Baird McCoy.
Mr. McCoy went to school in Sharp.
He was a self-employed long-haul truck driver and farmer. He hauled produce from the Rio Grande Valley to Canada and many northern states.
Mr. McCoy was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Mason McCoy; and three siblings, Dorothy Lawrence, Doris Springer and Doyle McCoy.
Survivors are three sons, Donnie McCoy of Fairfield, Ron McCoy and wife Misty and John McCoy and wife Yvette, all of Rockdale; a daughter, Catherine Praesel and husband Craig of Rockdale; two brothers, Floyd McCoy of Rockdale, Charles McCoy and wife Shirley of Thorndale; two sisters, Gloria Ebarb and husband Ellis of Thorndale, Kaye Blunt of Austin; and 10 grandchildren, Chasity, Stephen, Adam, Evan, Emily, Branson and Carson McCoy, Chance, Caitlin and Caleb Praesel.
Pallbearers were Robert McCoy, Billy Craig, Chester Clark, Ruben “Mudcat” Avila, Loy Edmondson and Jesse Love.
Honorary pallbearers were Lee Parsley and Tom Fisher.

Coleman
L.W. “Larry” Coleman Jr., M.D., 71, of Bryan died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at Kindred Hospital in San Antonio.
 Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
 Another visitation will be from 12-noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan with services following at 5 p.m.
 Visitation will also be from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with graveside services following at 11 a.m. in Murray Cemetery near Rockdale with Rev. Ann Matthews will officiate.
Mr. Coleman was born Aug. 27, 1936, in Dallas to Lawrence W. and Margaret (Towson) Coleman.
He was a 1958 graduate of Baylor University and a 1962 graduate of the University of Texas Medical Brant in Galveston.
Mr. Coleman served as a captain in the Texas National Guard Medical Corp.
He completed his residency in general practice at Fort Worth John Peter Smith Hospital in 1964.
Mr. Coleman was a family practitioner in Tyler from 1964-65. After completing orthopedic residency at Dallas V.A. Hospital in 1969, he established his orthopedic practice in Bryan/College Station from 1969-2006.
During this time, he served as chief of staff and chief of surgery at St. Joseph Regional Health Center and was on staff at Richards Medical Clinic in Rockdale. Mr. Coleman proudly served as team physician for Texas A&M University from 1982 to 1994.
On Sept. 25, 2004, he married Nancy Baggett in Rockdale.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Coleman; his parents; and a sister, Jane Merchinson Haber.
Survivors are his wife, Nancy Baggett Coleman of Bryan, and his children and grandchildren: Dr. Cari Coleman and husband Dr. Peter Roan of Boise, Idaho and Andrew, Coleman and Mackenzie; Brooke Coleman of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Laurel and Lucy; Dr. Jon Coleman and wife Laura of Park City, Utah, and Nicholas; Ashley Leasure and husband Lance of Seattle, Washington; Amber Baker and husband Bob of Dallas, and Juliette; Branley Rogers and husband Brian of Dallas; Cameron Williams of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Sean, Felicia and Elizabeth; Matt Coleman of Boise, Idaho; Brad Coleman of Bryan; Tracy Thatcher of Austin and Racheal, Devin and Dylan; Holly Williams of Austin; Kyle Williams and wife Lindsay of Dallas.
He is also survived by a brother, Jim Coleman and wife Myrlan of Weatherford and their children, Dr. Jill Chilcott and husband Dr. Grey Chilcott, Will Coleman and wife Misty; six great-nieces and nephews; his mother and father-in-law, Lorene and Col. Herb Massengale of the Tracy community.
Pallbearers in Bryan will be Dr. Barry Veazey, Dr. Council Mills, Carl Davis, Ed Slovacek, Steve Smallings, Steve Hayes, Perry Koch and Jim Rosales.
Pallbearers in Rockdale are Dr. Peter Roan, Dr. Cyrus Caroom, Lance Leisure, Brian Rogers, Bob Baker, John Bacon, Andrew Roan, Coleman Roan and Kyle Williams.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. John Hall, Dr. Dutch Elmendorf, Dr. Fred Anderson, Paul Bonarigo, Dr. Rusty Anderson, Dr. Tom Patterson, Dr. Randy Light, Dr. Bill Marr, Dr. Henry McQuaid and Hartzel Elkins.

Laurence
CAMERON—Graveside services for Iva Mae Laurence, 77, of Beaukiss were held Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Lawrence Chapel Cemetery near Thorndale with Rev. Tim Tutt officiating.
Mrs. Laurence died Tuesday, Aug. 5, in a Bryan hospital.
She was born May 14, 1931, in Rockdale to Albert and Fannie Myrtle (Martin) Caywood.
She married Walter Bradford Laurence on May 17, 1950, and he preceded her in death in 1983.
Mrs. Laurence worked as a nurse. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Caywood, and a sister, Bertha Williams.
Survivors include three sons, Glenn Laurence of Cameron, Eugene Laurence of McMahn and Darrell Laurence of Hutto; a brother, Hubert Caywood of Minerva; and two sisters, Lilly Doss of Austin and Ella Caywood of Rockdale; also, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Wilkins
CAMERON—Funeral services for George Russell Wilkins, 92, of Cameron, formerly of Fairfield, were held Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Maroney officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Wilkins died Wednesday, Aug. 6, in a Temple hospital.
A retired flight service representative for the FAA, he was born July 7, 1916, in Pacolet Mills, South Carolina, to John Russell and Nannie (Matthews) Wilkins.
He married Dorothy Hatch and she preceded him in death in 2002.
Mr. Wilkins was a member of First Baptist Church in Cameron.
He was also preceded in death by a son, John Wilkins.
Survivors include two sons, Bob Wilkins of Cameron and David Wilkins of China Spring; two sisters, Eloise Montgomery and Carolyn Valetine, both of Spartanburg; six grandchildren, Rusty Wilkins, Jeanne Dianne Wilkins, Donna Hobbs, Laura Wilkins, Joshua Wilkins and Joel Wilkins; and three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Elana and Emily.

Henry
CAMERON—Graveside services for Clio Rae Henry, 77, of Cameron will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008 at the Henry Family Cemetery near the String Prairie community of Milam County. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 13-14, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.
Mrs. Henry died Friday, Aug. 8, in a Cypress hospital.
She was born April 19, 1931, in Atascosa County to Lemuel Elmore and Mary Ellen (Gulledge) Dickey.
Mrs. Henry grew up in the Leming and San Antonio areas.
She married Lester Williams (L.W.) Henry on July 8, 1950, and he preceded her in death in 2007.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry opened the Champion Paint Manufacturing Co. in Houston. She was past vice-president of the Houston Paint & Coatings Association before retiring to Milam County.
Mrs. Henry was also preceded in death by a sister, Eva Mae Money.
Survivors are two sons, Rick Damon Henry and wife Karen of Houston, Jon Patrick Henry and wife Ava of Cypress; and two sisters, Nora Stewart and Louise Mahula; also, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Societies.

Roberts
CAMERON—A celebration of life for Gloria Jeanette Roberts was held Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Pasadena Funeral Chapel. Graveside services and interment followed at Liberty Community Cemetery in Milano.
Mrs. Roberts was “a mother that was always there” and she overcame some tough struggles but survived with lots of strength.
She was a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Lee Roberts.
Survivors are a son, Bobby Bridges; and two daughters, Cassandra Kimball and husband Danny, and Linda Howard; also, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of usual remembrances, memorials may be made to Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.

Olivarri
CAMERON—Services for Madison Marie Campos Olivarri, infant daughter of Amanda Michelle Campos and Willie Olivarri III of Rogers, will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Rogers with Rev. Larry Heimsoth officiating. Burial will follow in Rogers Cemetery.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.
Madison died Monday, Aug. 11, in a Temple hospital.
She was born Jan. 6, 2007, in Temple.
Survivors include her parents, Amanda Campos and Willie Olivarri III of Rogers; her grandparents, Timoteo and Lisa Campos of Rogers, Willie and Mary Ann Olivarri of Cameron; and her great-grandparents, Timoteo and Rosa Campos Gonzales of Mexico, Alice and Eddie McFaline of Temple, Guillermo Olivarri Sr. of Burlington, Arthur and Emdenia Montez of Cameron and Dominga Salazar of Cameron.

Ahrendt
CAMERON—Arlene Frances Ahrendt, 66, died Aug. 1, 2008, at her home in Cameron.
Graveside services were held Aug. 5, at the Oak Hill Cemetery Pavilion.
Mrs. Ahrendt was born Jan. 16, 1942, in Pekin, Illinois, to Robert E. and Helen (Krigner) Callender.
She attended schools in Washington and East Peoria, Illinois, and graduated from East Peoria Community High School.
She loved all types of music, especially jazz and doo-wop from the 1950s and 1960s. She was an accomplished vocalist and performed with a large dance band all over the Midwest in the early 1960s.
She met her husband, Don, when he was transferred to Illinois and they were married March 6, 1965 in Peoria. They relocated to Austin in 1967.
Mrs. Ahrendt worked as secretary/bookkeeper for Leif Johnson’s Truck City, and later for the State of Texas before the family moved to Cameron in 1976. After moving to Cameron, she devoted her time to rearing her four children.
She is survived by her husband, Don; her father, Robert Callender of Secor, Illinois; her mother, Helen Thomas of St. Louis, Missouri; a son, William Ahrendt and wife Linda of Washington, Illiniois; daughters, Kelly Dellerman and husband Louis of Minerva, Stacey Wuthrich of Houston, and Rachel Cole and husband Glenn of Cameron. Other survivors include her sister, Elaine Callender of Secor, Illinois; and her brothers, Michael Callender of Secor, Illinois, and Roger Callender of Bloomington, Illinois.
Also surviving are grandsons Nicholas Wuthrich, Gavin Wuthrich, Jeremiah Botts, Patrick Cole, Andrew Cole, Alex Cole, Dustin Wheeler and Logan Dellerman, as well as granddaughters Michelle Botts, Laurie Lopeman, Staley Lilley, and Meghan Dellerman. Additional survivors include five great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters, two nieces, several cousins, and a special lifelong friend, Judy Glaczenski of Daytona Beach, Florida.

Taylor
WILLS POINT—Graveside services for Janice Massey Taylor, 84, of Wills Point were held Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at Evergreen Cemetery in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Mrs. Taylor died Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Crestwood Nursing Home in Wills Point.
She was born Martha Janice Massey on Feb. 25, 1924, in Edgewood to Martha Jeff Cartwright and George L. Masey. She was raised by her grandparents, Thomas Jefferson Cartwright and Mable Clapp Cartwright.
She married Jack Taylor of Milano on June 11, 1942, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1998, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
A Charlotte resident since 1951, she had been employed with H&R Block as a tax preparer and teacher for 20-plus years.
Mrs. Taylor was a baptized Christian and a member of Providence Road Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Jan Alan Taylor of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Jeff Cartwright Taylor of Mount Airy, Maryland; two granddaughters, Alisha Kay Taylor of Boston, Massachusetts, and Grace Isabella Taylor of Mount Airy, Maryland; a sister, Lady Collins Mohr of Dallas; and a brother, Tom Jeff Massey of Dallas.
