Boyd
Graveside services for Delmar Blake Boyd, 79, of Minerva were held Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at Sandy Creek Cemetery near Rockdale with Rev. Richard Poole of First Presbyterian Church officiating.
Mr. Boyd died Sunday, Nov. 16, at his home in Minerva.
A Minerva resident for the past 13 years, he formerly lived in Houston for many years.
He was born Jan. 5, 1929, in Port Lavaca to Granville Blake and Alice Blanche (Braden) Boyd.
He married Mary Jane Summers on Nov. 16, 1956, in Houston.
Mr. Boyd was a paint salesman at various companies for 39 years, the last 12 with Montalbana Lumber in Houston. He retired in 1995.
He was raised in the Episcopal Church and served in the Army National Guard from May 25, 1948, to Nov. 2, 1956. He was a member of the 36th Division Association.
Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by a brother, Granville Braden Boyd, and his parents.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Jane Boyd of Minerva; two sons, Timothy Michael Boyd of Houston, Paul Andrew Boyd of Tomball; a daughter, Susan Wallis and husband John of Brenham; and a granddaughter, Rebecca Lynn Whittley of Houston.

Conner
George H. Conner, 72, of Rockdale died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, at the Veterans Hospital in Temple. No services were planned; his body was cremated.
Mr. Conner was a Rockdale resident for the past three years and was formerly of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
He was born Nov. 1, 1936, in Cardwell, Missouri, to Thomas L. Conner and Lillie M. (Marshall) Conner.
He married Shelia Ruth Daniel on Dec. 25, 1959, in Stuttgart, Arkansas.
Mr. Conner was a retail department store manager, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Marshall, Gary, Jim and Joe Conner; and a sister, Imogene Carlson.
Survivors are his wife, Shelia Conner of Rockdale, and three sons, Daniel Conner of Austin, Thomas Conner and wife Bess of Virginia, David Conner and wife Cindy of Spokane, Washington; also, three grandchildren.
Colton
MILANO—Services for Sadie Mae (Ashley) Colton, 95, of Carefree, Arizona, formerly of Gause, were held Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at First Baptist Church in Milano with Rev. Dave Lucas officiating. Burial was in Milano Cemetery.
Mrs. Colton died Saturday, Nov. 8, in a Scottsdale, Arizona, hospital.
She was born May 21, 1913, in Gause to Margaret Elizabeth (Raven) and William Henry Spraggins.
Mrs. Colton was a clothing store clerk.
She married Thomas Morgan “Bozo” Ashley in 1930.
Mrs. Colton was preceded in death by her husband, Bozo Ashley, in 1956; a daughter, Norma Wannell Ashley, in 1936; her parents; five brothers and four sisters; a grandson, Michael Edwin Smithey; a granddaughter, Judy Diane Smithey; and a son-in-law, Jerry DeRoy Smithey.
Survivors are a daughter, Sarah Smithey Link and husband Max of Carefree, Arizona, and a brother, Phil Spraggins of Canyon Lake; also, four grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jeffrey D. Smithey, Jerry A. Smithey, Wayne Spraggins, Darold Smith, Jeremy L. Koeninger and Christopher Link.
Honorary pallbearer was Phil Spraggins.

Orsag
LEXINGTON—A mass for Alvin John Orsag, 83, of Lexington was held Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Giddings. Burial followed in Germania Cemetery near Lexington.
Mr. Orsag died Thursday, Nov. 13, at his home in Lexington.
He was born April 30, 1925, in Dime Box to John Orsag and Helen Zelenevitz Orsag.
At the age of 6, when he enrolled at rural community school, Alvin spoke only Czech.
While in high school in Dime Box, he developed an interest in radio. After high school graduation, Mr. Orsag completed a one-year course in electronics at Blinn College.
He moved to Giddings in 1943 and began Orsag’s radio and electric appliance repair business on a $100 loan from his parents. Always the hard worker, he steadily grew his business by including additional products to sell and repair. The business blossomed with the development of television.
He and his wife, Elder B., bought Namken Furniture Store and in 1968 they combined both locations to blend the furniture lines with the appliance, television and repair business.
In 1983, Mr. Orsag added a second Orsag’s store location in Rockdale. With the help of family members and loyal employees, he grew Orsag’s into a well-respected home furnishings store in Central Texas.
At the end of the business day, Mr. Orsag enjoyed unwinding by tending to his cattle and his many projects including repairing his old tractors at the family ranch in Lexington.
He and his wife enjoyed traveling and saw many parts of the world.
Mr. Orsag was a founding director of Lee County National Bank in Giddings, a member of the Chamber of Commerce and was involved in many community projects.
He was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Giddings.
Upon retirement, Mr. Orsag and his wife move to the farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a baby brother, and a sister, Leona.
Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Elder B. Orsag; a daughter, Sharon Foster; a daughter and son-on-law, Glenda and Bill Barker; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Donna Orsag, all of Giddings; a daughter, Cindy Orsag Simons of Austin; grandsons John Foster and wife Rhonda, Matt Foster and wife Sarah, Jim Barker and wife Cathy, David Orsag and wife Hope, Darren Orsag and wife Holly, and Andrew Orsag; granddaughters Tammy Dudeczka and husband Rob, Molly Harville and husband Kiley, Amy Blackburn and husband Matt; nieces Barbara Melton and Pat Lee, along with their children David Stephen and Lance Melton, and Heather Mudd; also, two great-grandsons and eight great-granddaughters, with three additional great-grandchildren on the way.

Vrazel
CAMERON—Funeral services for Mary Ann Vrazel, 73, of Yarrellton were held Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Marak with Rev. Walter Matus officiating. Burial followed in Sts. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery.
Rosary was recited Tuesday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.
Mrs. Vrazel died Sunday, Nov. 16, in a Temple hospital.
She was born Jan. 25, 1935, in Cyclone to John and Annie (Macek) Vansa.
She married Albert Vrazel on Jan. 25, 1955.
Mrs. Vrazel worked for Baugh Shoe Store in Temple for several years and then worked for Temple Tag in Academy for over 27 years.
She was a member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, K.J.Z.T. Lodge No. 21 and Sts. Cyril & Methodius Altar Society.
Mrs. Vrazel was preceded in death by a brother, Anton Vansa, and a sister and brother-in-law, Tony and Guy Mitchell.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Albert Vrazel of Yarrellton; two daughters, Debbie Godwin and husband Paul of Rogers, Karen Pratt and husband Barry of Salado; two brothers, Emil Vansa and wife Dorothy of Cyclone, Steve Vansa and wife Carolyn of Ratibor; a sister, Albina Vrazel and husband Anton of Yarrellton; three grandchildren, Shannon Godwin, Jarrod Godwin and Malory Schattle; two brothers-in-law, Alfred Vrazel and wife Bernice, Lawrence Vrazel Jr. and wife Margaret, all of Yarrellton; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Hubnik of Cameron; and special friends Dennis and Marsha Apana and Darlene Hughling; also, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Hurry
CAMERON—Graveside services for Troy Hurry, 89, of Bellville, formerly of Buckholts, were held Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at North Elm Cemetery in Cameron with Rev. Billy Crow officiating.
Mr. Hurry died Saturday, Nov. 15, in a Bellville nursing facility.
He was born Jan. 6, 1919, in Buckholts to Rufus and Lola (Fuller) Hurry.
Survivors are his wife, Phyllis Standard Hurry of Bellville; a son, Thomas Raymond Hurry of White Rock, New Mexico; and two daughters, Carolyn Thompson Hurry of Bellville and Debra Sonnier of Houston; also, three grandchildren.
