| Police make six drug related arrests in week
Police Report
Rockdale police didn’t plan any major drug sweeps during the past week but ended up making six arrests on drug charges, ranging from possession to outstanding warrants, in four separate incidents.
Ofc. Stephen Goodrich arrested two men for cocaine possession after stopping a vehicle for running a stop sign Saturday.
Alfred Ray Blevins, 50, and 42-year-old Donald William Gilbert, both of Rockdale, were charged with possession of a controlled substance (under one gram) and are being held on $5,000 bond at the Milam County Jail.
Blevins was also arrested on a parole violation warrant and Gilbert on a non-payment of child support warrant.
Goodrich said a crack pipe with cocaine and a small bottle of cocaine were found during the traffic stop.
Party
Two arrests were made just before noon on Saturday after Officers S. A. Smith and Bryan Lightfoot were called to a report of underage drinking at a party on Dyer Street.
Augustin Ramirez, 23, of Thorndale was arrested on a Travis County warrant for motion to proceed on a charge of possession of a controlled substance and is being held without bond.
Julio Rangel, 31, of Cameron, was arrested on a Milam County probation revocation warrant on the same original charge and is also being held without bond.
Shopflifting
A shoplifting call to Brookshire Bros. Thursday by Ofc. Rusty Brindle resulted in the arrest of Brandy Kachelle Scott, 33, of Lexington, for possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine), less than one gram. She is being held on $5,000 bond in the county jail.
Cheryl Lavonne Crawford, 48, of Lincoln was arrested on a felony parole theft warrant, with previous convictions, and an additional charge of failure to ID. She remains in custody on $5,000 bond.
Gun theft
Goodrich answered a call to a theft of firearms at a gun shop Sunday and arrested Michael Dustin Keel, 23, of Lucedale, Mississippi for the theft of three handguns.
Keel was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine). He remains in the county jail on $15,000 bond.
Arrests
Other arrests during the past week included:
• Jason Lee Herbert, 24, Taylor, burglary of a building, released on $2,500 bond.
• Amil Dale Fronek, 31, Rockdale, burglary of a building, released on $2,500 bond.
• Laura Marie Costilla, 33, Belton, probation violation/securing execution of document for fraud, Milam County warrant for theft ($20 to $500), transferred to Milam County.
• Jason Allan Harris, 29, Rockdale, indecency with a child/sexual contact, released on $20,000 bond.
Accidents
No injuries were reported in three accidents investigated by police during the week as follows:
• 3:40 p.m. April 29, 900 block of Murray, drivers Roselio Ayala and Brandon Moore, both of Rockdale. Minor damages.
• 7:53 a.m. Friday, Citizens National Bank parking lot, drivers Anna McGuire of Rockdale and Marie Ray of Caldwell. Minor damages.
• 3:07 p.m. Saturday, US 77 at CR 313, drivers Carlos Contreras and Richard Bartholomew, both of Rockdale.
Citations
Police said 20 speeding tickets were issued during the week, along with 15 for no insurance, three each for expired MVI sticker, no MVI sticker and no seat belt and two for driving on the wrong side of the road.
One citation each was issued for curfew violation and possession of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Calls
Police answered 163 total calls over the past week, and 108 through the 911 system.
