| Vandalism probe clears old criminal trespass case
Police Report
Police have closed the books on an investigation which led to the arrest of two adults and three juveniles in connection with a vandalism spree, a probe which has now cleared an old case in which a diving board was damaged at a private residence.
Lt. J. D. Newlin said a male juvenile was arrested last week in connection with the overnight vandalism spree on June 26 in which mailboxes, fences and a vehicle were damaged. The case was turned over to juvenile authorities.
Two adults and two juveniles had been arrested last week in connection with the June 26 incidents.
“As a result of this investigation we were able to clear an incident last year in which one adult and four or five juveniles entered the yard of a private residence without permission, held a party in the family’s pool and broke the diving board,” Newlin said.
Charges are expected to be filed later this week.
“The diving board was apparently not broken maliciously but since the group was in the pool without permission when it happened, criminal trespass charges apply,” Newlin said. “About $4,000 in damages resulted from the incident.”
Arrests
Angelina Alcorn, 43, of Rockdale, was arrested Saturday in connection with an incident in which $1,000 in cash was taken from a local residence. She was charged with theft of property ($500 to $1,000) and was released after posting $2,000 bond.
Michael Lynn Lawrence, 38, was arrested July 9 and charged with theft of property ($50 to $500) and was released after posting $1,000 bond.
