The Milam County Grand Jury determined that Deputy Samuel Ferguson, IV, was justified in using deadly force in his self-defense in the October 19th, 2022, shooting which resulted in the death of an individual who Ferguson was attempting to take into custody pursuant to a mental health warrant.
Texas Ranger Sergeant Kenneth Shields investigated and testified regarding this matter.
First Assistant District Attorney, Brian Price and Assistant District Attorney, Randy Dale presented the case to Grand Jury.
