REPORT LEADS TO SCHOOL SEARCH

(CAMERON) A report of a possible gun on a Cameron campus brought about a lockdown and search.

At around 8AM today, March 26th, the Cameron Independent School District relayed information to the Milam County Sheriff’s Office that a student had taken a gun to Cameron Junior High and left it in a locker. Sheriff Mike Clore said the District requested assistance with an administrative search of the campus and went into a soft lockdown while that search was underway. Following a thorough search, a bb gun was located in the possession of another student. On interviewing the student that was the subject of the original information, that student admitted to lying about bringing a gun to campus. Any disciplinary action to be taken will be done by Cameron ISD. There is no credible threat to the campus at this time.

I have also attached a statement provided by Cameron ISD Superintendent Kevin Sprinkles.
