RISD puts focus on food safety in schools

One sure sign that school is under way in the Rockdale ISD, and particularly at the elementary campus, is the sight of a steady stream of parents and grandparents escorting students on the first day. Enrollment climbs in Rockdale ISD
1,554 reverses five-year trend
Monday was a pleasant opening day of school in the Rockdale ISD.
Not only did everything go smoothly, according to Supt. Denise Monzingo, the first-day enrollment of 1,554, reversed a five-year downward slide.
Enrollment was also up in Milano, down slightly in Thorndale and exactly the same in Gause. Full Story

Cheer mini-camp ahead Sept. 7th at high school
The annual cheer minicamp at Rockdale High School is set for Sept. 7, in the RHS old gym, according to Tina Barcak, spokesperson.
Hours are 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. with the parent performance to begin at 5:30. Cost is $30 per child. Full Story

RHS soph picked for national FFA Band
Michael Zapata, a sophomore at Rockdale High School and a member of the RHS Big Blue Band, has been selected to be a member of the Future Farmers of America National Band.
He is also a member of the Rockdale High School FFA.
The FFA Band will gather in Louisville, Kentucky, prior to the 87th annual FFA convention Oct. 29 to Nov. 1. Full Story
