Dear editor,
MARC Ride loyal supporters, you never cease to amaze us. We are proud to announce a record year. The auction brought in $29,000 with checks still coming in. We are already at $48,000 for the total that will go to the MARC Center.
The 21st annual MARC Ride fundraiser took place Saturday. This was our first full-blown wide-open fundraiser since before Covid hit. The loyal supporters showed up and showed out. Roughly 100 entrants with bikes, trikes, cars and trucks in parade style traveled the ride route including a drive by the MARC Center and were greeted by the MARC Consumers displaying banners, posters and lots of smiling faces waving to all the bikers and entrants.
We then traveled through Milam, Lee and Burleson Counties on a 97-mile ride with stops at sponsors at Cyndi's Hawg Hangout in Hawg, Nat's in Milano, Cliff's Tavern in Rockdale, V.F.W. in Rockdale and then back to The Ranch.
During the MARC Ride we awarded our plaques donated by Rockdale Signs and Photography. Rodney and Jocelyn Lewis we really appreciate your loyal support every year. Our Youngest Rider award was given to Devan Hicks at 16 years old, Oldest Biker was awarded to Mr. Odes Foster at 80 years young, Oldest Bike was Ricky Bachmayer on his 1980 Bike and our MARC Consumers Choice award, selected by the MARC consumers before ride, was awarded to Rod Royce Roderick on his Purple Trike.
We were then served a BBQ meal with meat being provided by Bitdeer and prepared by Kathy Quinny, Linda Crane, Paul and Rita Johnson along with a lot of other generous caring people. This was followed by an auction brought to us by John and Kay Fisher of Rockdale and Precinct 3 Commissioner Art Neal spotting bidders that brought premium prices on everything from a very big-hearted group of caring people.
A huge thank you to everyone, no matter how big or small, your part in making this happen is very much appreciated. You are all really Bad to the Bone!
Thank you all!
Charles Starr
