The Milam County 4-H Awards Program is held each year to celebrate the accomplishments of our Milam County 4-H members who have excelled in their specific field(s) of interest throughout the year. These young men and women work hard to achieve various levels of accomplishment at the county, district, state and national levels.

Milam County 4-H had an incredible year and is growing every day. We are so proud to share that our graduating seniors this year earned a combined total of over $73,000 in scholarships from the Texas 4-H Foundation Scholarships. We had six seniors apply for and be awarded scholarships. Milam County was second in the state, behind only Brazos County with seven winners.

We greatly appreciate your support of Milam County 4-H and the kids of Cameron, Rockdale, Thorndale, Gause, Davilla and Milano over the years. This year we had 185 Milam County 4-H Entries across all the Major State Stock Shows. Milam County Judging teams and individual livestock exhibitors made a huge impression across the state this year. Our kids brought back banners, trophies, ribbons, buckles, scholarship money and even won one of the top livestock banners; the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Grand Champion Steer. Our Consumer Decision Making team won State to advance to the National CDM contest in January 2024.

On behalf of Milam County 4-H, we invite the community to join us at this year’s program on Sunday, September 10. We will host our awards program at the Yoe High Performing Arts Center located at 1000 N. Fannin Ave. in Cameron. This year the Awards Program will begin promptly at 2 p.m. A small reception will follow the program. We hope you will be able to join us for this special event to meet some of Milam County’s finest youth and celebrate the great things these kids are doing through 4-H.

The Milam County community’s support of our annual awards banquet allows us to honor these kids for the hard work they put in all year to represent Milam County with pride. We ask if you would like to contribute to our program, we would appreciate all donations, great or small. If you have any questions regarding our program or are interested in sponsoring a particular award, please contact our office.

In addition to our Milam County 4-H Awards program, we will be coordinating a silent auction that afternoon to raise funds for the Christine Holcombe Scholarship Program. We will accept all donations to give away. Items can be dropped off at the Extension Office anytime between now and September 8. We also invite you to attend to bid on some of these great items and support the youth of Milam County.
