Body

An amazing amount of people, companies and charity groups got together to raise money for the Sandoval family last weekend and the results were spectacular.

The fish fry at Brett’s Backyard BBQ raised over $15,000. According to volunteer Brian Wallis, 500 pounds of fish was served and over 950 plates were sold. T-shirt sales last week totaled over $5,600

T-shirt sales last week totaled over $5,600 and most of that came from area schools including Lexington, Milano, Cameron, Thorndale and Rockdale.

Rebecca Luckey says there will be another order of the t-shirts soon for those who didn’t get one the first time around. You can contact her at 512-760-5775 to order.

Kaitlynne Schnerr did her own t-shirt fundraiser and, with help from her friends and family, raised over $5,000 for the Sandovals.

Two charity organizations, Veritas Aequitas Nocona Chapter and Apache Pass PLEMC Texas, held a bake sale on Saturday and raised $3,460.

All of the food for the fish fry was paid for by the following donors:

Gaye and Charles Bland, William Zientek, Kathryne Roddam, Truit and Morgan Jones, Brett’s Backyard BBQ, Dana Caffey, Rockdale Rotary, Caffey Corner, Di-Hard Fitness, Rockdale Memorial, Scott’s Body Shop, Rainbow Courts, Bill and Peggy Cooke, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Ball Jr., Justin and Amy Fatheree, Kristy Aguillon and Brett Boren.

These companies made donations of food, decorations and more:

Tisket-A-Tasket and The Flower Shop, Circle S BBQ, Sam Berry, Lee’s Landing, Ruffino’s Meats and Food Services and Texas Propane.

Amazing job volunteers and businesses.

All of this just goes to show that Rockdale knows how to take care of its own, especially when there is a child involved.—K.W.C
