Rockdale’s water issues are finally being fixed
Body

As you are driving down Cameron Avenue and you see all the work going on, please be thankful that our water issues are, at long last, being addressed. Every city council for the past – what? – 75 years or more has kicked this can down the road and done nothing about it. Our current mayor and current city council, and the councils just previous, decided it was time to do something. And they did.

Do you remember having to run the bath water for a long time until it wasn’t red anymore? Having to use lots of bleach on your whites or they would come out stained? Not being comfortable drinking it even though we were assured it was safe?

At one point the city gave away packets of bleach rather than fix the actual problem.

Those issues are finally being addressed after many long years so it’s time we stopped complaining and started being thankful that these folks finally decided to tackle this huge and expensive project.

So next time you see any of the people below, say thank you for fixing our water issues. These people are either directly responsible for voting to fix the problems or are overseeing its implementation.

Mayor John King, Joyce Dalley, Nathan Bland, Ricky Coppedge, Jason Barcak, Doug Calame, Denise Holmes Wallace, Belinda Hillhouse, Michelle Larkin, Scott Starnes, Brett Boren, Lin Perry and City Manager Barbara Holly.

The Reporter is grateful for all of you.—K.W.C.
