I felt like a kid again all day Sunday while it was snowing. It was so beautiful.
I couldn’t help but be out in it most of the day just watching it come down.
It seemed quieter than normal, but the best sounds were hearing the kids and grandkids in the neighborhood laughing and playing.
We all deserved a happy day after the year we’ve been through.
I keep seeing some of my more “seasoned” friends getting their vaccines already and that makes my heart so happy. We are lucky in Milam County to have Judge Steve Young focusing all his time and attention on this huge project to keep us all healthy, while doing everything else a judge does. Keep up the great work, Steve. We all appreciate you.
Unfortunately, there are so many I know who are sick with the virus right now. Four more deaths in the county in the last week or so. To all of you suffering right now I hope you feel better very soon.
Friendly reminder: do not call Brookshire Brothers pharmacy. Go to www.brookshirebrothers.com and download their vaccine form and fill it out. Take the form to the pharmacy and that’s how you get on their vaccine list. The form is on the front page of their website.
If you want to do it through the county you need to email Amy Guillen at aguillen@milamcounty.net to get on their list.
I can’t wait until this virus is all gone. We have a long way to go but getting these vaccines out is certainly going to help get rid of it.
And don’t forget that you can still get the virus even after being vaccinated. January and February are going to be awful because of holiday gatherings. Hopefully as we come to March, the one year “anniversary” of this plague, we will start to come back to some sense of normalcy. But we’ve got to work together to make that happen. As the judge says, “Wear
As the judge says, “Wear your mask, keep your distance, wash your hands and get your shot.”
I have a friend who lives in Minneapolis who got the virus seven weeks ago. He’s over it now but he still can’t taste or smell anything. Isn’t that strange? I guess it affects everyone differently, but I can’t imagine not being able to smell or taste. I guess I might lose some weight if it happened to me, but I don’t want to make light of it.
I’ve had several friends who’ve caught the virus and they all have a hard time explaining that symptom of having no sense or smell or taste. And, after going through your whole life being able to do both those things, it makes sense that it’s hard to describe.
I remember helping Kathy with the girls one day when Kennedy was a baby. I was changing her diaper and I was about to vomit every few second and actually had dry heaves. I remember her telling me “Never breathe through your nose, you idiot! Breathe through your mouth.”
I would never have thought of that, but what I don’t know about babies would fill volumes.
I remember being in Mr. Worthy’s chemistry class in high school and he told us that whether we are smelling something good or something bad, tiny particles of whatever we are smelling are going up our noses. That has stuck with me to this day, and it still grosses me out. Especially thinking about bad smells like baby diapers among other gross things.
I just feel sorry that the people who go through this and can’t smell things like flowers, puppy breath, baked bread, babies with clean diapers and other pleasant smells.
I hope you are all able to taste and smell very soon!
