This week we had a big change at The Reporter.

Mary Lou Loehr has moved on to what she hopes, and we hope for her, are greener pastures.

In the meantime, until we hire a replacement, my friend Joyce Dalley is going to step into the advertising role, so don’t be surprised if you see her at your business with her Rockdale Reporter hat on. I’d like to thank Joyce publicly for helping us out. I appreciate you!

And not to brag, but Joyce sold a full-page ad on her first day in our upcoming Grad Tab special section. The Grad Tab has photos of all the graduating seniors and is always popular. Parents, grandparents and friends of seniors, reach out to Joyce at joyce@rockdalereporter. com to reserve a space. Deadline is May 9. —kwc— Earth Day is coming up on Tuesday, April 22. See the letter to the editor on this page from Rockdale Earth Day Chairperson David Melton to see how you or your organization can be a part of making our town look great. —kwc— This Friday, April 18, is the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Fair Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition to the Easter Egg Hunt, there will be photos with the Easter Bunny, face painting, bounce houses and lots to eat and drink. —kwc— The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Rockdale Downtown Association (RDA), will hold a City Council Candidate Forum at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in the Patterson Center.

“With multiple candidates running for Rockdale City Council, this forum offers a valuable opportunity for residents to hear directly from the candidates, learn about their priorities and ask the questions that matter most to them,” said Chamber Executive Director Lucita Rodriguez.

The public is encouraged to submit questions in advance by visiting www. rockdalechamber.org.

“Your vote matters, and this is your chance to be informed and involved in shaping Rockdale’s future,” Rodriguez added. “We hope everyone will join us for this important community event.”

The event is free and open to the public.

Candidates for the open west side representative are incumbent Kyle Walker, Taylor Hjorth and Daniel Willie. —kwc— A teenager who had just received her learner’s permit offered to drive her parents to church.

After a hair-raising ride, they finally reached their destination. The mother got out of the car and said, “Thank you!”

“Anytime,” her daughter replied.

As the woman slammed the door, she said, “I wasn’t talking to you. I was talking to God.” —kwc— “If a king sleeps on a mattress and a queen sleeps on a mattress, what does the prince sleep on?”

“I don’t know, what?” “An heir mattress!” (Don’t blame me. You have Ashley McKee Karl to thank for that one.)
