NOTES FROM THE CITY

There are lots of projects going on in Rockdale. The new police department is on track and budget with a transfer of operations from the current building (Old City Hall) to the new building on March 13, 2019.

The contractor is finishing up the outside work and will be moving to the interior work soon.

Two projects on the east side of Rockdale have begun.

Road replacement on San Gabriel Street is taking up the original concrete streets and replacing them with asphalt from Bell to Thrall Street—the worst part of the street.

On Rice Street, we are replacing the 12-inch water line with a new one on the west side of the road.

North of Belton Ave, the water line will go under the curb and gutter so that will be replaced also.

FEMA gave us a grant for Hurricane Harvey in 2017 to replace the culverts under North Burleson Street and repave the road.

In addition, we will put some curbing, flood gauge markers and reflective markers to make the area more visible.

We have a street light on order for there too.

The grant that is paying for the new lift station and sewer line at the new nursing home is on track, we expect that to get done in the next few weeks.

The splash pad has been ordered for Sumuel Park and should arrive in January for installation.

The process for the Texas Water Development Board (TWDC) water line application is well underway.

We are conducting a rate study to pay for the fixes both to the water treatment and distribution system.

We will probably formalize this in December at the Council meeting.
