The 2018 Rockdale Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center Banquet is Thursday at the KC Hall. The theme is Wranglers and Rhinestones.”

Last year was a busy one for the Chamber and its members. Here’s a partial list of what it accomplished in 2017:

• Community Easter Egg Hunt at Fair Park, co-hosted by the Rockdale ISD iTigers and Renaissance Villa drew more than 300.

• Partnered with MDD, Workforce Solutions, Rockdale Downtown Association, Rockdale ISD and Little River Healthcare for the Economic Development Week, a week of activities.

• Hosted quarterly “Lunch N Learns” sponsored by Vistra Energy/Luminant.

• The Third Annual Rockdale UnCorked Wine Tasting drew an estimated 125 people attending and eight wineries participating.

• Fourth of July at Fair Park. Many said the 2017 display was the best ever in Milam County.

• Second annual Buckin’ Bulls & BBQ was sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and drew over 1,700.

• Breakfast with Santa sponsored by McDonald’s drew large crowd to Patterson Center.

• Santa Claus was at the I&GN Depot-Museum Depot, the depot’s caboose, blacksmith shop, dining car and model train exhibits were open.

• Night lighted Christmas tree drew large crowd along parade route from Fair Park to downtown.

And there’s more to come. Much more.—M.B.
