Body

Due to my horrible allergies I have to have Kleenex on my person at all times. This is not usually a problem until hoodie weather gets here because I can never remember to take them out of my hoodie pockets when they get washed.

I washed eight to 10 of them recently and evidently the pockets of every single one of them was completely stuffed with tissues. You should have seen both the washer and dryer. A hideous mess in both that I had to clean up quick before Mom saw it and had an attack of some kind. She’s very protective of her washer and dryer.

And that poor lint collector. He looked at me with a scrunched up nose and a big eye roll. He was a very unhappily clogged.

When it’s not hoodie weather I take them out of my shorts pockets every night with everything else I carry around. I just can’t remember to take them out of hoodies.

First world problems and all that.

—kwc— I’m so looking forward to the Lone Star Jazz Festival on Saturday, Dec. 11 at The 1895. What a unique thing to have here in good old Rockdale. Our sports writer, Wynton Thomason’s father, Sparky, and his band will be one of the jazz acts performing. Plus there will be a holiday market all morning.

Tours of the building will given and The vision Historic Preservation Foundation has collected lots of old photos of the building as well as articles that give its history.

There is still time to get tickets. Go to Vision’s website at https://www. visionhistoricpreservationfoundation.org/, click on “events” and the Jazz Party is the first event listed with a handy button to click on to purchase your tickets.

General admission is $1, reserved seats in the jazz tent are $25 and VIP tables for eight are $300.

Looking forward to this fun event.

This Saturday is the 16th annual Buddy Oney Toy Run at The Ranch. You can start bringing your new, unwrapped toys worth $25 at 9 a.m. Donations are always welcome too. Please support this wonderful organization and bring some happiness to Milam County’s less fortunate kids.

The Bad to the Bone Riders sponsor this event each year and have raised over $94,000 for the less fortunate children of Milam County. All proceeds go to The Milam County Child Protective Services, Milam County Brown Santa Program, Thorndale Cares and The Rockdale Christmas Roundup.

The first riders will leave The Ranch at 11 a.m. The ride fee is $20 per rider and riders with passengers are $25.

“The ride will take us through some nice roads in Milam, Lee and Burleson Counties,” according to Charles Starr, organizer.

Sponsors along the way are Bob’s Steakhouse in Cameron, Cliff’s Tavern in Rockdale, Cyndi’s Hawg Hang Out in Hogg, Nat’s in Milano and The Ranch in Rockdale.
