MISD REPORT
On Friday, we have an early out as teachers have the afternoon set aside to hold parent teacher conferences.
They are here to work with you in partnership to ensure your children receive a great education.
FOOTBALL—This week our varsity football team has a bye week.
We traveled over to Thrall Friday evening for the district opener and came away with a 14–13 victory.
The game was a very exciting, hard hitting game that got us started off on the right foot in district competition in our quest to return to the playoffs.
Next week will be our homecoming game as we play host to Hearne.
To my knowledge, this will be the first ever match-up between the two Eagle squads.
VOLLEYBALL—Our volleyball girls are having another outstanding season. We have started the second round of district play.
We are in the hunt for another playoff appearance this season and will travel to Thrall on Saturday and Thorndale next Tuesday.
RUNNERS—Our cross-country runners will compete in their district race Monday of next week.
They are a group that get up early in the morning and work out before school starts.
Most practices start at 6:15 or 6:30 in the morning while most students are still at home in bed.
The high school and junior high runners ran at the Melodie Hope Jones Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser fun run Saturday.
Melodie, a 2015 graduate of MHS, died in a tragic car accident on July 4, 2017. It was inspiring to see so many people turn out in support of this wonderful cause.
Melodie was such a wonderful young lady and was deeply loved by so many.
PSAT—On Wednesday, Oct. 10, we will administer the PSAT to our juniors. It’s not too early for them to start thinking about college entrance exams and planning the next phase of their educational journey.
Time has a way of flying by and they will be graduating and moving on to the next phase of their life before you know it.
EARLY OUT—I am amazed that we have completed six weeks of school, and have sent report cards home.
If you have any questions over your child’s grades, do not hesitate to contact their teacher.
