I’m getting three weeks per fill up lately and I can’t remember the last time I went outside of Rockdale.

However, on Saturday Noelia and I went to Costco to get a few things we needed. It’s been a long time since either of us has gone there.

Masks are required at Costco so we brought ours.

I’ve been wearing mine in Brookshire’s and Walmart anyway even though they don’t require it. Better safe than sorry is my way of thinking.

I felt very safe in there. Every employee was masked and they won’t let customers in without a mask.

The lines to check out were long but they moved along quickly.

My friend Annette Stone told me they deliver to Rockdale now, but only non-perishables. You can’t order meat or fruit or veggies.

Another reason I like Costco is because they sell clothes. I hate clothes shopping but I do love shopping for food. I picked up some size 34 jeans and a few shirts.

I didn’t realize it at the time but luckily the jeans were made of some stretchy material. And that’s a good thing the way I’ve been COVID eating.

Mom asked me to get her some mayonnaise, but the only jar they had was so large it wouldn’t have fit on the shelf of the refrigerator.

All in all, it was a good trip and such a quick drive to Hutto or Pflugerville or where ever it is. After living in Houston for so long and with so many changes to that Hutto/Pflugerville area I have no idea where I am anymore. That whole 130 toll road totally throws me off.

—kwc— There’s some good news at The Reporter this week! Brookshire Brothers and

Brookshire Brothers and HEB both stopped advertising during the COVID-19 crisis, but Brookshire Brothers will be back next week. We have certainly missed them.

Also, Procter & Gamble manufacturer’s coupons are coming back.

Through a comedy of errors between their advertising agency and us, we fell off their list somehow but they will be back in the paper on May 28. Happy clipping and saving.

Also coming on May 28 is our Graduation Special Section. We’ll have photos of all the graduates from Rockdale, Milano and Thorndale. Deadline for that is Friday. It’ll be a colorful keepsake. —kwc—

I hope all you mamas had a nice Mother’s Day. The weather in Rockdale couldn’t have been any nicer.

All holidays in our family revolve exclusively around food. Mom requested ribeyes, and Dad grilled them to perfection like he always does.

She had me make her favorite squash casserole recipe. I have to admit I was dubious about it with so few ingredients, but it was delicious. And I should have known it would be wonderful because it is Bootsie Peebles recipe. I’ll have it in my food column next week.
