Rain, this spring, has been abundant and refreshing. It may seem a little strange to be looking at Ezekiel Chapter 37 and looking at a valley full of dry bones, but here we go.
The previous chapter reveals God’s plan to restore Israel, both physically and spiritually. God will never do anything halfway or incomplete for his people. We must remember that even the stories from the Old Testament times can always be applied to us today. God is not slack concerning his Promise, but is willing that ALL come to repentance.
The Hebrews have been in captivity, and the nation is divided as well. The Hebrew people are without hope, not knowing if God still exists or if he even cares about his people.
God has taken his Prophet Ezekiel up, “In the Spirit of the Lord” and put him in a valley of scattered bones. God asked Ezekiel to go round about, and view the bones and then told him to address the bones.
“Hear the Word of the Lord”. Sound familiar?
John 1:1 tells us In the beginning was the Word with God and was God.
The desolation of the bones is beyond hopeless in man’s eye. God asked the prophet if they could rise up.
And looking through man’s eye, Ezekiel, took the safe route and told God, “You know.”
God personally formed Adam, but he lay there with no life until God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. The only difference here is it was a nation, physically and spiritually dead.
It is not different for us today. We need to be healed on a physical as well as a spiritual level.
This past year has been unlike any most of us have seen or could imagine. COVID-19 has been more than a physical problem. As we come out of the grips with the virus, adjusting to “life back to normal” may not be easy for everyone.
Emotional as well as financial obstacles have ruined families, friendships and individual lives. We have discovered there is no help from the two political parties, as our nation seems divided. And everywhere we look we see dry bones. The only hope for us and this nation is God.
No matter where the dry places are in your life, God cares and can breathe life back into your dry bones.
