Body

I got my second Moderna vaccine last Thursday, and unfortunately I was one of those who had considerable side effects to it. I felt achy and like I had the flu for the better part of Friday, but on Saturday I woke up feeling fine.

If your second vaccine is coming up, I highly recommend clearing the day following your shot, if possible, just in case.

There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason why some people experience side effects and some don’t. There is a theory that if you react badly, like I did, it just means you are building up a stronger immunity. I’ve decided to go with that thought.

And even though I didn’t feel good for one day, I’m sure it was better than being intubated and on a respirator. And even better, I now (or in two weeks anyway) will have less of a chance of getting the virus or passing it on to someone else. And I feel very good about that.

One thing that made it all totally worth it to me is the fact that I got 12 full hours of sleep the first night and 11 straight hours of uninterrupted sleep the following night. When I woke up Saturday I didn’t just feel “back to normal,” I actually felt great after all that sleep. I haven’t slept like that in a long while.

I may try going to bed at 8:30 p.m. more often, but with my luck I’d probably wake up at 3:30 a.m. and not be able to go back to sleep.

Don’t forget that most downtown businesses on the north side of Cameron Avenue downtown have back doors that you can use to access the buildings while the sidewalk work is going on.

We always get a lot of traffic on Wednesdays but you don’t need to walk through dirt or mud to get a paper. Just come through the back door.

Call the businesses first if you aren’t sure where to go.

And if you’re getting upset that things downtown are in disarray, go look at the artist renderings of what downtown will look like once all the work is done and you’ll see that it will have all been worth it.
