Rockdale sports fans I need your help! Athletic Director Hunter Hamrick runs the Rockdale Tiger Athletics Facebook page. He has the settings set so that I can’t share the athlete’s accomplishments to The Reporter’s Facebook page.

I have asked several people for help, including Debra Neal who can normally do anything, but to no avail. I would love to be able to share the student athlete’s successes with our readers and followers.

Lindsey Lillard, I am asking you specifically because two of your kids have had some great accomplishments lately that our readers and followers would definitely enjoy seeing. Plus, you run more than one Facebook page, so I know you’d know how to change his settings. And you’re at school with him all day. You’re my last hope, Lindsey Wan Kenobi! —kwc— We had a nice Easter, and I hope you all did too. Ken and Christine came down, and Noelia, Kevin and Augie were here.

We had breakfast tacos on Saturday morning from Cocina Familiar and then dad cooked his famous (in our family) grilled burgers for dinner.

For our Easter meal we had glazed ham, lots of roasted veggies, Noelia’s homemade rolls, “orange” stuff which dad likes a lot and deviled eggs, which I didn’t eat of course. We were supposed to have macaroni and cheese, but someone totally forgot to make it. And that someone was me. Two kinds of cobblers for dessert.

Then we all napped. —kwc— Don’t forget the Linwood Acres Garden Club’s plant exchange on Saturday at the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce from 9 a.m. to noon.

There will be plants of many varieties and attendees are invited to bring plants to share with others. —kwc— The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Chamber Banquet on May 15 at the SLR Training Center at 6 p.m. for cocktail hour and 7 pm for the dinner.

Cocktail or Black-Tie Attire is requested. —kwc— An elderly man lay dying in his bed, Suddenly death’s agony was pushed aside as he smelled the aroma of his favorite homemade chocolate chip cookies.

Gathering his remaining strength, he lifted himself up from the bed. Leaning against the wall, he slowly made his way out of the bedroom, and with intense concentration, supported himself down the stairs, gripping the railing with both hands.

There, spread out on the kitchen table were literally hundreds of his favorite chocolate chip cookies!

Was it heaven? Or, was it one final act of heroic love from his devoted wife?

Mustering one great final effort, he threw himself toward the table. The withered hand quiveringly made its way to a cookie near the edge. His parched lips parted; the wondrous taste of the cookie was already in his mouth; seemingly bringing him back to life.

What, then, was this sudden stinging that caused his hand to recoil?

He looked to see his wife, still holding the spatula she had just used to smack his hand.

“Stay out of those!” she said, “they’re for the funeral.”
