Body

Ispent some time on Friday and Saturday taking pictures at the Apache Pass car show and barbeque cookoff. Since it had rained and I thought it would be muddy, I wore an old pair of shoes in which I nearly lost it in some mud. I just knew I was going down, but somehow I managed not to.

Noelia and I headed west to go to Costco after I got finished. We could tell we were about to get rained on. It was a downpour. My windshield wipers, having not been used all summer, got a good workout. So good, in fact, that one of them flew off the car while we were driving. Naturally the one on the driver’s side.

Luckily this happened before reaching Thorndale, so we turned around and came back home to get Noelia’s car.

My car is a 2010 and the lights don’t come on automatically, so I turned them on in the rainstorm. Then I forgot to turn them off when we got to her driveway. So by the time we got back from Costco, HEB and eating at the Texan Café, my battery was dead.

Noelia had the coolest thing in her car that I didn’t know existed. It’s like jumper cables connected to a little battery. You hook up the clamps to the car battery just like you do with jumper cables, but then you just push a button on the battery they are attached to, and my car automatically started up.

That thing is as handy as a shirt pocket. Don’t tell Noelia, but I may steal it. —kwc— I am about to go on vacation, and I am so happy about it. It’s difficult for me to take one since I don’t have any back up. Dad always had Mike Brown to rely on, but I don’t have anyone so handy.

Brother Ken is going to come and give me a week off and I am so thankful for him. He can do work on his paper in Fredericksburg remotely and get the paper out on time.

He i s a l s o c oming because our father is about to have his hip replaced at long last. He’ll be able to help him as needed while I lie around on a beach somewhere. I’m definitely getting the better end of this bargain.

I think I am going to go to Galveston and eat broiled flounder every single day at my favorite restaurant in the whole word, Gaido’s.

Shr imp season just started in there in August so I’ll have some of that too.
