The things I do for you, our loyal readers. Just consider me a guinea pig for all of you. I did the “work” so that I could report on it to help you make informed decisions.
Several weeks ago I wrote a feature story on James Simonton, the owner of the hemp product boutique, 3G Farm, which is opening in the building next to Banda’s which used to be a nail salon.
Mary Lou saw cars there the other day so she stopped in to find out when they are opening. Mr. Simonton hadn’t texted me if he liked the story or not, but it turned out he did like it and he sent some of his products with Mary Lou for me to try.
I thought about it for several days before trying them because of a cautionary tale my sister-in-law, Noelia, told me several years ago. And I’m sharing the story with you so you don’t make the same mistake.
Noelia has a childhood friend named Norma. Norma had been having trouble sleeping and relaxing so a coworker of hers told her to try some legal gummies containing CBD oil. In Mexico they have stores called Tienda Naturista, or a health food shop with products using ingredients from nature including CBD oil from the plant cannabis sativa.
So Norma bought some products containing CBD oil and tried them one night. About three in the morning she woke her husband up telling him she could barely move her legs and she thought something was wrong with her.
Her husband was very worried and decided to wake up their son and take Norma to the emergency room.
Norma said walking felt like she was walking in slow motion, like on the moon. She was seeing lights and her heart was beating rapidly and she was very scared. Almost paranoid.
The emergency room doctor checked her out and was at a loss for an explanation until he asked her what she had eaten. She told him about the CBD gummies. He asked her how many she ate and Norma told him, “About five or six in a row.”
And that’s why this tale is cautionary. You don’t eat five or six gummies in a row because you won’t feel very good if you aren’t used to them.
So, having heard that story I made sure when I tried out the gummies on Friday night that I left an hour in between each one. If you’re not as old as I am you could probably wait only 30 minutes.
I carry my stress in my shoulder blades and in the back of my neck. It’s gotten so bad at times that my muscles push a headache upwards. My doctor has given me pain pills and muscle relaxers several times.
I have to say that I could actually feel my stress melting away a little while after eating my first gummy. An hour later I took another one and I felt no pain at all. I felt very relaxed and happy.
And to those of you who sometimes have trouble sleeping, I can hardly find the words to describe how well I slept that night. I didn’t feel drugged or anything, I just slept very deeply and felt wonderful the next morning.
One of the effects of non-legal marijuana is “the munchies.” You get incredibly hungry, and even though these gummies are legal in Texas, that effect is still there. Or at least it was for me. Luckily Mom and Dad had been to steak night at the Rockdale Country Club earlier in the week so there were plenty of delicious leftovers for me to eat.
And it affected Norma that way too. On the way home after she knew that she was going to be OK, the family stopped for tacos. I feel you, Norma.
So as far as I’m concerned the verdict is a big yes on these Delta 8 gummies, even if it’s just for the sleep which is totally reason enough. They also sell a Delta 9 version which is stronger but I haven’t tried it.
The store is doing a soft opening right now because they don’t have all their products in stock. They opened Monday at 11 a.m., and I highly recommend you do some shopping and get some very good sleep. Tell them Kyle sent you.
