Dear editor, I am Randy Kendrick and would like to introduce myself. I am the managing owner and CEO of SLR Property I, LP (“SLR”), which we commonly referred to as Sandow Lakes Ranch.
SLR is the former industrial aluminum smelter, power plant and lignite mining properties, which were purchased by the SLR investor group in 2021. SLR covers about 50 square miles in Milam and Lee Counties.
Just after purchasing the SLR property, our team launched a yearlong effort, with nationally recognized land planners and land designers, to create a comprehensive development plan for the entire 50 square miles. These plans include development and construction of various residential, retail, commercial, industrial, hospitalities, hamlets, and recreation facilities throughout SLR.
In the spirit that we want to create a new economic engine in the community, our first SLR development is to construct a world-class Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics Campus or AMLC. We started on the AMLC a few weeks ago.
This ambitious project, located just south of US 79 on FM 1786, will span over 3,300 acres and feature a staggering 30 to 50 million square feet of rail served manufacturing and logistics space supported by rail and truck intermodal capabilities.
Our intention is to create a Mega Site for innovation and a place for reshoring of American industry that previously moved abroad.
The AMLC is expected to be ready for commercial operation by mid-year 2025.
The former industrial enterprise here lasted approximately 60 years spanning a few generations. SLR could take a few decades to fully build out, but it is expected to exist in perpetuity.
We are just beginning to tell the story of SLR. There will be more to tell in the coming weeks and months.
Respectfully, Randall Kendrick CEO of SLR Contact@SandowLakesRanch.com
