Dear editor, This year marks the tenth anniversary of Rockdale Earth Day. Through the years we have evolved and grown, w ith our Annual Day of Community Service being a foundational part of our mission to educate and serve the community on matters germane to the environment.
Led by the great students of the Rockdale ISD, and with gratitude to the Rockdale Rotary Club, the City of Rockdale and Riot Platforms for joining in on last Friday’s efforts, our Day of Community Service was a great success. As always, it takes a village of caring people, serving as human resources to accomplish all that was done. We appreciate the eighty-plus people who joined in to clean and beautify the good city of Rockdale.

Projects completed:
• Re-set of landscape at the RISD Administration Building. (FFA Students)
• Expanded f lower bed at the Senior Center. (Spanish Club)
• Litter pickup by NHS for their stretch of adopted Hwy. 79.
• Litter pickup along East Bell Avenue (Ric Rodriguez)
• Cleaning and leveling of headstones and general cleanup at the Old City Cemetery.
• Re-set of landscape at the MARC Center.
Each day brings new opportunities to better our community. Though it may sound cliché, Make every day Earth Day.
