Thanks to MDD exec

director for efforts

Dear editor,

Bitmain continues to develop its campus. Solar farms appear to be in our near future.

At least four new dining places have opened in Rockdale in the past three months.

Rockdale is about to be featured in a Super Bowl commercial.

The economy in Rock-dale and Milam County is clearly strengthening, if not flourishing. Many people have contributed to this, but one of the key players is often overlooked

Kara Clore is executive director of the Rockdale Municipal Development District, whose focus is bringing economic development to Rockdale.

Through my experiences in the corporate world, private business, and higher education, I’ve been involved in challenging situations that have taught me that leading economic development is not an easy job or one for the faint of heart.

A successful economic development leader must not only be an expert in areas like strategic planning, government policy, and business development, but also must be able to bring together people with widely varying goals and missions in a community with diverse needs.

Kara has an unusual gift for doing exactly this. Not only does Kara put her heart and soul into ensuring a better future for her community, but she does so with the utmost professionalism and grace, often in the context of difficult and sensitive situations.

Kara would be a treasure in any city of any size, and Rockdale and Milam County are darn lucky to have her.

We all owe Kara our gratitude for her current contributions and accomplishments in moving Rockdale and Milam County forward, and those yet to come.

Sincerely,

Gretchen McCord DeFlorio
