Water bill doubled
while use went down
I‘m sure I’m not the first to voice concern since receiving their first water bill this month from the City of Rockdale reflecting the new rates, but it appears the preliminary information that citizens and your paper were provided were misleading to say the least.
For instance in my case, my usage went down from 2,400 to 2,300 gallons from the month prior but my bill increased $59.32 to $104.08 which is a much greater percentage increase based on usage which we were misled to believe by Mr. Whittaker to occur.
Of course I contacted the City of Rockdale about this, but received a canned response which appeared to be memorized I’m sure to the number of inquiries they have received.
Personally, I have great water pressure and seldom have coloration issues but have submitted my request to them for a smaller 3/4 inch meter since I have a one inch one.
Seems to be socialism at its best. I don’t care, for example, if the Budget Inn has discolored water or any at all. We all are sharing the costs.
This leads one to ponder what effect this will have on existing or new businesses in the already weak Rockdale economy.

Don’t teach children any lie is acceptable
I was alarmed when I read the headline of Christine Granados’ column in the March 7 Reporter. (“How do you teach kids some lies are okay?)
So, I opened by Bible (King James Version) and read Proverbs 6, 16-17 which lists “a lying tongue” as one of the things The Lord hates.
In light of this, we do not need to teach our children to lie, rather, let us teach them if they cannot say something nice, say nothing at all.
I have been guilty of that myself, so I will say ‘thank you Christine for reminding us all of the fatal “little white lies” which are not little at all, but a matter of life or death, spiritually.
God does not “graduate” lies.
