Heard of ‘rough, tough cowboy’ from 1800s

Dear editor

Regarding May 23 Reporter letter, “Gee family pioneers from 19th century” written by Betty Alford, I appreciate heritage and history information presented. I’ve heard of a rough, tough cowboy born 1866 (Civil War history) named Mac Calberry who lived down Sticky Clicker Road. Supposedly he had two brothers and one sister named J.R., Thren and Lily Kay.

The Calberrys lived in low country and highland. We remember Mac Calberry today.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Yeates
