2015 column brought memories of ‘Fate’
Dear editor,
This is in reference to a column I read in the commentary section of The Rockdale Reporter.
It was dated Oct. 8, 2015 in the Editor’s Corner by Mike Brown.
I knew Fate Arnwine (occasional Reporter columnist).
He probably would not remember me. He was a member of the Aycock High School state-football championship team. I was an eighth grader.
However, I bought my first bicycle from his sister, a girl’s bike! But it was a dream to me.
I took off the fenders, stripped it down, and it became a racing bike for me.
I raced all my friends, beat them, and won a lot of bike races.
Fate Arnwine’s sister sold her bike to me for $5. I was very happy and thankful she was nice to me.
By the way, I later became a member of the Aycock High School football team in my freshman year.
If Fate Arnwine reads this in The Rockdale Reporter, maybe he will get a laugh or smile from it.
Thank you for reading this.
Sincerely,
Willie Majors Jr.

Educators deserve respect and support
Dear editor,
Most of us could probably agree that we are living in strange times these days.
Decisions are not being made in traditional ways. Usual guidelines are not in place.
There is, in my opinion, no group harder hit by all of this than our wonderful, dedicated, competent educators.
They are expected to have school at school and school at home. How does a teacher do all of that?
How I do so respect, support and admire these wonderful professionals, especially those here in Rockdale, Texas.
Thank you,
Dr. Lucile Estel
