Good Samaritan
Dear editor,
While jogging last Tuesday in Rockdale I tripped and fell on uneven pavement and landed hard. As I lay in the street with blood running into my right eye and my wrist and ribs hurting, I heard several cars go by and then one stopped. I heard a young lady exit her car and ask if I needed help.
I was dazed and in pain and couldn’t say much at first. This lady stayed with me until I could get up and go on my way. I thanked her as best I could. She told me her name, that she lived close by and I told her my name and where my wife and I live. Back at home, I told my wife that I needed to find this lady and do something for her but I didn’t have her address.
Next day I found a note in my mailbox that said: “This is Taylor Rodriguez. I stopped to help you yesterday. Just wanted to make sure you’re okay and I have been praying for you." She left her number to call if I needed anything. I did call. It turns out she is pregnant and has a 2-year-old child with health issues, and yet she went to that trouble.
I am reminded of the Parable of the Good Samitarian in the Gospel of Luke (10:25-37).
Just wanted to take this means to praise Taylor for being an example of God’s love for others. I’m so thankful that our paths crossed.
