Thanks for honest, insightful editorial
Dear editor,
Thank you for your honest and insightful editorial Guilty Verdict in the April 29 issue of The Reporter.
A good resource for all of us is the book My Grandmother’s Hands by Resmaa Menakem, MSW, LCSW SEP.
As a therapist and the brother of a police officer, he writes about “Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Hearts and Minds.”
It explains unconscious reactions and discomforts we all have that divide us from those who seem different. Suggestions are given for law enforcement to continually support the physical and emotional needs of officers. Yes we need to pay them more.
Another important resource is www.episcopalchurch.org/from-manyone Conversations across Differences. God’s Love Helps us do the hard work of acceptance and transformation.
