Milam CPS Board thanks citizens
Dear editor,
I want to thank the many wonderful citizens who participated in the Christmas sponsorship for our Milam County children in foster care and kinship care. Each year, we have more children who have been removed due to dangerous family situations. Abuse, neglect, parental drug usage, and parental mental health issues are the main reasons for these removals. Our children are the innocent victims of their parent’s cruel behaviors and decisions .
Our Child Protective Services Board tries desperately to raise money to help our children who have had to endure this heart-breaking emotional and physical pain. From the money donated, our board provides Christmas gifts, clothing allowances, birthday gifts, and supplies for the children’s projects and activ ities in and out of school. In response, our children are are so thankful that our county has helped provide them with as normal a childhood as possible. They know that they have not been forgotten by our county.
Our board also provides baby beds, clothing, baby monitors, diapers, and car seats when there is an emergency removal and a kinship family needs help. If Methamphetamine has been manufactured in the home, these items cannot be removed because of contamination.
Our board is so thankful for the many citizens who are aware of the number of child removals across the state and who are willing to help our children. We are very grateful to our Milam County citizens for their generosity.
Sincerely,
Jeanie Weed,
Chairperson
Milam County CPS Board
