New column is a welcomed addition

Dear Mavis, Your column is a welcome addition to The Rockdale Reporter. It is a very good newspaper, but it was lacking that warm, cuddly feeling you get when felines take to the keyboard.

I’d heard about your arrival from one of the tall things, and he seems quite smitten with you. I can’t blame him — you are quite adorable. And now, come to find out, you’re quite the writer. I hope they’ll make your column a regular feature of the paper. It kind of takes the edge off the hard news (although I know there’s been some good news lately).

You should know that The Reporter usually enters newspaper contests (when your tall thing remembers) and wins lots of awards. One of the categories is for column writing. Make sure he enters your column. I know for a fact that at least one cat has won second place for feature writing in the Texas Press Association contest. I know because she, Trixie Trout, was our office cat. She’s now retired and living with our ad production chief.

At any rate, I wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed your column. Keep up the good work.

Sincerely, Mary Henkel Judson Co-Publisher of the Port Aransas South Jetty 1726 State Highway 361, Suite A1 Port Aransas, TX 78373 copub@portasouthjetty. com
