The 1924 Interscholastic County Meet of Milam County, held in Rockdale last Friday and Saturday, was the most successful int he history of the county, despite several adverse conditions operating against a full attendance of the rural schools. In the first place, an epidemic of measles has been scourging he county for the past several weeks. Some rural schools have closed, and many children were prevented from getting ready for the meet. The smallpox scares in some communities also operated against the attendance record. The heave rain that fell Friday evening all over the county was another factor. Twenty-five rural schools became member of the League this year, under the skillful guidance of C.G. Green, Director General, and while some of these schools were not represented at the meet, the attendance was larger than ever before and there were a greater number of entries in both literary and athletic departments.
