Perfect in every appointment was the rose bridge party given by Mrs. J.Q. Baldridge Wednesday afternoon in compliment to her house guest, Mrs. J.B. Black of Houston. Tables for the game were arranged on the long veranda amid a setting of ferns and pink roses. From an attractive nook, Mrs. C.M. Perry served refreshing orange nectar. The rose theme was further accentuated in the pink and white ice course. Lovely pink rosebuds were plate favors and miniature pink rose baskets held white mints.
Saturday afternoon while strolling down the highway, Rev. Dan Bounds was accosted by the driver of a car and asked to get in and ride. The minister accepted the proffered favor and got into the car, which contained other passengers besides the driver. No sooner had the gentleman seated himself when one of the young men drew from his pocket a marriage license and handed it to the minister with a request to read it. Bro. Bounds said it took him four hundred yards to perform the ceremony which united for life Mr. Amos Fails and Miss Etta Whitely, both popular young people of the New Sales community. The Reporter joins with the friends of the bride and groom in wishing them a prosperous and happy journey through life. Bro. Bounds says he wouldn’t kind getting “held up” every day if all “hold ups” terminated as happily as did this one.
