George Weber, 16-yearold boy, living five mile south of Thorndale, suffered a serious, if not fatal, injury on Sunday afternoon when a shotgun was accidentally discharged as he picked it up, the shot from both barrels striking him in the left shoulder and side, just above the heart. The report is that this lad and a companion were hunting near Weber’s home and stopped at a well, placing their guns across a water trough. In grasping his gun and drawing it to him by the barrel, the hammers, striking the edge of the trough, were drawn back and when released sprang back with sufficient force to explode both charges in the gun. He was rushed to the P&S Hospital in Taylor and is reported to be in serious condition.

Coach Magee’s Rockdale High School Tigers have been “mopping up” in basketball. On Tuesday of last week they defeated the Yoemen of Cameron High School on the local court by a score of 27 to 16. On Wednesday night of the same week Coach Magee took his quintet over to Georgetown and, in a night game on an indoor court, they defeated Georgetown High by a score of 16 to 13. This game was particularly pleasing to Mr. Magee as he is a graduate of Georgetown High. On Friday of the same week the tigers went to Cameron and again defeated Cameron High, the score being 21 to 18.

The residence of W.H. Fletcher in Highland Park Addition was entered by a burglar Monday night. Mr. Fletcher states that evidence was left to show that the burglar visited practically every room in the house. He was evidently in search of money, and after finding Mr. Fletcher’s pocketbook containing $50 seemed to lose interest in the silverware he had taken, which he left outside the pantry window, through which entrance to the house was effected.
