The residences of Ed Moses and H.O. Quebe and Hill’s Book Store were burglarized, the robbers evidently making their getaway in the car of L.T. Wilson which was stolen from in front of the Longmoor home. The two residences were quite evidently entered early in the night, as the burglaries were discovered when the owners returned home after working hours.
The Reporter offered apologies to Mr. and Mrs. Gust. Backhaus Jr. for failing to chronicle the arrival at their home on Oct. 31 of a fine 9-pound boy who looked enough like his mother to make a much better-looking man than his father. Congratulations were extended.
Emphasized among the lovely social affairs of the season was an entertainment given in the M.R. Summers home. Mrs. Summers invited guests for a game of 42. There were three tables of players. Autumn foliage and flowers were profusely used in the decorations throughout the rooms. The score pads and tallies were beautifully shaded, hand-painted corsages. These and the table markers were the handiwork of the hostess and were very much admired. The first prize, a pretty watercolor picture, was won by Mrs. H.O. Quebe. The second prize, a dainty Japanese corsage, went to Mrs. P.H. Perry. In the several cuts for low prize, Mrs. Maie Van de Venter won, and was awarded a small bottle of Black Narcissus perfume. A delicious and most artistic salad course was served on lovely, decorated luncheon trays.
The L.G.N. rai lroad would soon be a “sure-nuff” railroad, judging by what the rock ballast crew was doing to the roadbeds both ways out of Rockdale. Crushed white rock was being spread to a depth of a foot or more, the track being raised, and the rock tamped securely under the ties. New creosoted ties were replacing old ties, and the “Jenny” would soon have a roadbed the equal of any in Texas.

It took some dedication to follow your team when it’s in the 30s, raining and cold north wind was blowing. However, it helped when your team scored 75 points and it’s a great football game. That’s what cold, but dedicated, Tiger fans enjoyed in the bleachers at A&M Consolidated High School in College Station as Big Blue ripped Center 75-28. Tiger fans were hoping College Station was a successful site again as RHS was to tangle with Coldspring at the new College Station High School.
