Sheriff Drue S. Rogers arrested two boys named Burkhart and Martin in Thorndale, charged with burglary in connection with the burning of the Fisher store and Thorndale State Bank last February. According to their signed confessions, the boys admitted having entered the Fisher store for the purpose of robbery, and to cover their crime they then set fire to the building. It would be remembered that not only the Fisher store burned, but a vacant brick building on one side of the Thorndale State Bank building, entailing a loss of approximately $50,000. It also learned that some of the goods stolen from the storehad been recovered. Sheriff Rogers was making a splendid reputation as a detective since assuming office and this haul as quite a feather in his cap.
