The amendment to the Constitution to be voted on June 28 by the people of Texas was being endorsed by the press, businessmen, merchants and organizations throughout the state. This amendment, if adopted, would authorize the state to take over, construct, maintain and supervise the State Highways. No additional taxes would be levied, nor could be levied, by reason of adoption of this amendment. The people of Texas, and especially those who had made a study of the highway situation in this state and in other states, realized that the only way in which Texas could have a connected system of state highways, properly constructed and maintained, was for the state to take over this responsibility and use state funds for this purpose.

Mrs. Randle served a delicious supper of cakes, fruits and pickles.
