Milam County was visited by rain shortly after midnight Sunday night, which, while not heavy, was sufficient to do some good all over the county, and in some spots a great deal of good. Here in Rockdale the fall measured a little more than half an inch. Again Tuesday morning rain amounting to a little more than a quarter inch fell in Rockdale and over most of the county. From 8 a.m. Wednesday to 8 a.m. Thursday morning, sixone hundredths of an inch was recorded in Rockdale. As this is written Thursday morning rain is still falling, slowly and in a manner by which every drop will do good. (Readers, Rockdale was experiencing a severe drought at that point in 1925. KWC.)
W.A. Womack, a farmer from the Kolb community out on the San Gabriel, was quite seriously injured last Thursday when he jumped from a wagon after losing control of his team which became frightened near the I.&G.N. Depot. Mr. Womack was picked up and taken into the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. Longmire, where he is still confined to his bed. His injuries consist of several broken ribs, sprains and bruises, and it may be a week or more before he will be able to get out again. The team ran for perhaps half a mile without material damage either to the mules or the wagon.

Thursday afternoon the H.C. Vance home was the scene of a delightful gathering when Mrs. Vance was hostess to a large number of friends. The entire room was converted into a veritable rose garden. Dorothy Perkins roses, shading from the deepest crimson to the most delicate pink, were most artistically arranged. Amid this setting tables had been placed for the game of “Auction 42.” Although the game was new to many, the players entered into it with zest, and it was with reluctance that the closing game was played.
