Every age has felt the lure of springtime. Every heart has felt its magic thrill. Spring blossoms, spring frocks and an abundance of spring air characterized the party when Mrs. Longmoor was hostess to the Scrap Book Club. Work on the Rountree-Niehaus oil field road is under full headway and is being rapidly pushed. This road when completed will shorten the distance from Rockdale to the heart of the Minerva field by some two or three miles. At present there is really only one bad place and that is a mud hole about the middle of the entire stretch of road, but with proper draining this place will soon be in first class condition.

Trooper David Yarbrough said all were wearing their seat belts. The vehicle was totaled.

If you ‘vision’ they will come. Over 100 concerned Rockdale residents did just that Thursday evening, packing the Patterson Center to share their ideas on Rockdale’s future and offer input on how to make it better. All the data compiled Thursday won’t be put in a cohesive form for a month to six weeks but some recurring themes rippled through a large group discussion with more than 100 persons and the three small groups into which they split. Those included “brown water,” shopping locally, first impressions, cleaning up the town and making service better.
