100 YEAR SAO....

Wet weather continued to plague Rockdale-area farmers. All rivers and creeks were out again from recent rainfall. Cotton grower H. G. Eaken told The Reporter his 100 acres of cotton “might” make three bales.

Milano resident O. D. Graham donated $1,000 to the Thorndale School Library. Graham said the donation was sent to him by the father of a soldier who had died at Camp Travis and the money was to be known as the Emil Hengst Fund.

Corpus Christi photographer H. E. Richards of Corpus Christi, saying his business was “cleaned out” by the recent hurricane, announced he was moving his business to Rockdale.

The Thursday Reading Club expressed appreciation to all who signed their petition for the school board to initiate a free kindergarten but reported the club had received no reply to the petitioners’ request.

The fourth Rockdale Fair was set to unreel, It featured horse racing and 10K run. Saturday night headliners were The Good Vibrations.
