The American Legion boys were to be congratulated upon the success of the Fourth of July celebration staged in this city under the auspices of the local Post. It had been a long time since so large a crowd had gathered together in Rockdale for a picnic, and the day as a whole was a success. The weather was idea—not too hot, not too cool, not too dusty, not too wet—just right. And while the Legion boys who got in the collar and put the thing over were new at the game, they did a good job of it and everybody had a good time and the day can be conscientiously classed as a success.

Mrs. W.A. Coffield entertained the Scrap Book Club and a few guests. Zinnias and daisies were the chosen blossoms, the yellow-hued flowers predominating in the living room. The dining room was lovely in pink roses. Dainty little Grace passed the score cards after which all enjoyed a number of games of 42.

The last three weeks also brought new surfaces to parts of Bowser, Murray and Old Bushdale Road, all streets that carry school traffic. Others on tab for repair include Green, Rice and Third.

The second of four planned welcome signs was now greeting US 79 motorists at the eastern city limits near the US 77 overpass. It joins a similar sign near Coffield Airport, US 77 and FM 487.
