Our Business of the Month is Brett’s Back Yard BBQ, located at the intersection of West Cameron and Wilcox (US 79 and FM 487).
Brett’s was recently named one of the top 25 new barbecue joints in the state by Texas Monthly magazine, checking in at No. 20.
Our First Friday Coffee at the Library is this Friday May 3, and is sponsored by the The Workforce Solutions of Central Texas.
Come have coffee, see what’s going on in Rock-dale and meet up with old friends.
There is a town hall meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday to receive public input on the proposed requirement for house and building addresses.
Friday, at 6 p.m., is the Alpha Tau Delta 20th Annual Dewberry Jam Fiesta 5K at Veterans Park.
Check in and packet pickup by the city pool from 4 to 6 p.m. that day.
Rockdale’s Market on Main Street starts up Saturday and continues every Saturday, downtown at the I&GN Depot-Museum. Get your spot today. It’s never too late. All are welcome. Hours are 8am-noon every Saturday.

Saturday is the Rockdale Booster Club Golf Tournament and Crawfish Boil. If you haven’t signed up or got a team, contact Jeff Miller at 512-430-6150.
Sunday is Mayfest at the KC Hall. Celebration starts at 11 a.m. with barbecue plates for $10, fund-raiser drawing, silent auctions and kolaches.
Masons will be hosting a BBQ Scholarship Fundraiser at WalMart on May 11.
