Milam County 4-H members were very disappointed they could not attend the Texas 4-H Roundup in June to compete in 4-H state contests.
But they were super excited to be given the opportunity to compete in a state competition to qualify them for Nationals in July,
All these contests were conducted virtually, and the 4-H members studied each day for 2 weeks to review and prepare again to compete.
We were pleased to have eight 4-H members who competed in State Healthy Lifestyles, State Consumer Decision Making, Livestock Skillathon, and Live stock Judging.
The Healthy Lifestyles team composed of Wylie Barrett, Mallory McDaniel, Abbigail Miller, and Grant Widner placed first in the state.
They would have been given the opportunity to compete in nationals in January.
McDaniel placed third high individual in the contest.
Sydney Vaculin also competed in the contest individually.
Thank you, Elizabeth Miller, for coaching this great team.
The Consumer Decision Making team composed of Colby Green, Mallory McDaniel, Abbigail Miller, and Grant Widner placed second in the state.
McDaniel placed fourth high individual in the contest.
Wylie Barrett, Ryan Luckey and Kennedy Hobbs competed as a team in this contest.
Hobbs also competed in the Livestock Skillathon and the Livestock Judging Contest.
We are so proud of these wonderful Milam County youth in their great accomplishments.
Unfortunately, they did cancel the national contest, but we are so very proud of the Healthy Lifestyles team and all the other 4-H members who took time to meet and compete.
