MISD REPORT
Last year, in an incredible football game, we snapped Bremond’s 49-game winning streak.
Friday night, our football team snapped another impressive Bremond streak. Bremond had not lost a home football game in over four years.
In another incredible game, our Eagles came away with another win against the always tough Tigers.
We recently hosted a District 25 2A Spring Meet Organizational meeting with representatives of the other member schools in the district to plan for the following activities: Academic UIL, one-act play, cross-x, debate, track and field, tennis and golf.
Why meet in early fall to plan events not occurring until the spring?
Venues must be secured, judges must be contracted and calendars need to be set so other schedules can be developed.
There is a deadline for certification set by the UIL. There are other UIL events such as baseball and softball.
We try not to set multiple activities on the same day. However, this does happen from time to time because of time constraints.
Other factors include the state testing calendar and other UIL contests already scheduled. Of course, holidays are taken into account.
At the end of the day Milano ISD is responsible for both the high school and junior-high one-act play (OAP) contests.
Stonie Wall, Susan Meyer and Sherry Lagrone head up our OAP program, and they do an outstanding job of not only producing quality plays but also coordinating and organizing the district contest.
I am confident our personnel and volunteers will do a great job with this undertaking.
