Pastor John Seaton of St. John’s United Methodist Church was elected the new Ministerial Alliance president at the end of August.
He will take over from Pastor Jason Hollinger of the Murray Street Church of Christ, who has been called to be the preaching and community minister at the Central Church of Christ in Lufkin.
“We will continue to do all the work we have done in the past,”said Seaton. “At our next meeting we’ll be looking for ways to do more.”
The alliance hosts a community Thanksgiving, Holy Week services and a baccalaureate service at Rockdale High School. They also help people in financial and emotional need on an individual basis.
The Ministerial Alliance gathers every Tuesday at Meadow-brook Baptist Church at 11 a.m. for prayer and fellowship.
“We get together and meet to talk about the needs of the community,” Seaton said. “We still don’t have the majority of pastors in town, and we want to invite all the pastors to join the alliance, so we can all help the community.”
The Ministerial Alliance will have a planning meeting, Sept. 10 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church to fill spots on the alliance board.
Currently, the faith group is staffed with Sea-ton, president and Stephen Ammons of Meadowbrook Baptist Church, treasurer.
